Re: Maine 2012 - Take 2. If This Ain't the Bottom...

Bob Beers is co-hosting the Felger&Mazz show this week. Someone called and asked if TW was fired would he want the job. He says he would love to coach in Orono but he has no experience and thinks there are plenty of people ahead of him in the coaching lineup. He (sarcastically) thanked the caller for bringing up how bad the team is doing this season, says the last two seasons were "excellent" but Maine has had too many players move on to the pros early. His words, not mine. His co-host wondered if Boston sports talk radio is the best place to discuss Maine hockey, and quickly changed the subject back to the Patriots.

On another note, the team is in Florida and the players are already enjoying the weather. Devin Shore lamented that it was "only" 27 degrees, then quickly added that it was 27 Celsius...

Sure that Beersy had to try to find something nice to say on camera. Off camera he's barfing in his mouth watching this program go down the tubes, and all the work he and many others put into getting it where it was at one time pre-Timmay.

I don't think that Beers is the only former player or Alumnus that would hope that TW tenure @ Maine would come to a end after this season, but, and thats a big but...it will all depend on the present A.D. and "IF" he dares do it while he may or may not be back after his Contract is done this summer...does he get a Extension(Abbott)and goes thru with the Firing/Buyout or does he let this continue and put the "NEW" A.D. in the Hot-Seat right from the get go....most likely when the season ends, something will be done quickly...either they stick with TW with NO Extension and he finishes off the one year he has left and has to wait and see or.........?????? Who really knows at this point except it's pretty much a MESS...and loads of Questionmarks and Big Time Speculation 101. Maine's Cliff 2012-13.

Nick Pryor has the flu and did not make the trip. Bill Norman will take his place on the blue line.

Must be a hell of a flu to keep him out from December 22......and Norman is a better replacement than O 'Connor or Williams.....? He has had one passable game in the season and half that he has been chewing up scholarship money.....and now he and Rutt are the saviours of the D???

Tim has lost his way and I dare say, lost the team
M as well......

I thought Norman played better as a forward and Williams at D the last BU game..........
The PP needs to get going..........shoot to score and stop hitting the goalie in the chest protector with the puck.........

I think Abbott has to get rid of Timmy and there need to be changes in the athletic department as well. When the place is only half full for a hockey east game when there is nothing else going on you know you have hit rock bottom.

Re: Maine 2012 - Take 2. If This Ain't the Bottom...

Apparently, Larry reads USCHO. At least the news articles.

USCHO:
Florida College Classic

...

Combined winning percentage: 0.443, seventh of seven holiday tournaments.

A note: The tournament is the only one of the seven in which all four teams made the NCAA field of 16 last season.
Larry:
The Florida College Classic is the only one of the seven holiday tournaments in which all four teams reached the NCAA Tournament last season. But the .443 winning percentage of the four teams is the worst among the seven tournaments.

Re: Maine 2012 - Take 2. If This Ain't the Bottom...

Not for nothin' but...

Minnesota Duluth 7-8-3
Maine 2-11-2
Ferris St 7-7-3
Cornell 6-3-2

That's 61 games in the aggregate. The 4 teams have 22 wins in total. 22/61 = .361 combined winning percentage. No wonder it's not on TV.
What formula does USCHO use to come up with .443?

Take out the 10 ties: 22/51 = .431 combined winning percentage.

Take out Maine at 2-11-2 and include the ties: 20/46 = .435 combined winning percentage.

WTH???

Ties count as half a win and half a loss.

22/51 then factor in the ties and it is 27 (5 wins from 10 ties)/61= 0.4426

Got it - thanks. And to think when I joined this forum, I was told there'd be no math.

Happy New Year all and here's to some great Holiday Tournament play.

BU - Denver on NESN tomorrow night should be a good take as well.

If they continue to lose and go into the 1st of the year Swoon after the Fla. Classic with less then 3-4 wins,I could see some games at the 3k mark....it can get worst in the record and attendence part. 2-11-2 and dropping.

Timmy is currently re-building and developing his players for next year...............He has another good recruiting class coming in for next year. He is listening to Coach Mahomey for possible lineup adjustments..........
Timmay is looking for another goaltender for next year............Maybe Morris is a flight risk.........

Re: Maine 2012 - Take 2. If This Ain't the Bottom...

Diamond is out tonight vs UMD. No reason given yet.

Chit, Timmay couldnt rebuild a broken lego set even if he had a 5 year old giving him instructions. He cant even spell develop much less do it.

Re: Maine 2012 - Take 2. If This Ain't the Bottom...

TIMMAY says Duluth hasn't been hit with so many injuries, which is why they've been able to keep their head somewhat above water, unlike Maine.

Yeah TIMMAY, it's just because of all the injuries.
