Abbott was there, he is at most home Hockey games. It was pretty easy to see the student balcony wasn't full, haven't seen that when school has been in session that I can remember

For me, the whole season was encapsulated by the last00:45 seconds. Penalty call, Tim Ghandi takes a time out, and the product of that superior coaching is Bill Norman and Adam Shemansky on the points, and Ceratani, he of less than 12 games this year out there. Norman has NO shot....none. Weakest on team. Result 0 shots on net, after winning a draw........even with 6 sec left, Norman chased the puck down, stick handles 3 or 4 time, before seeing Diamond at far blue line......it is beyond imagination.....powere plays started to get momentum, 4 goals in 12 attempts, so Tim Ghandi decides it must be changed last weekend... And the drop back defense makes NO sense. Everyone gets flat footed.. d can't gap correctly.....Tim has become a caricature.....

Just a side note..I was glancing at the schedule and noticed that Maine is hosting UMass Lowell on February 3rd at 7:00pm...(Super Bowl Starts at 6:30)..Over/Under 2,000 fans?

Priceless, you're up there this weekend. You were at the game last night, correct?.... Let's have the Priceless Rink Report. What is the local on TW? Was Abbott one of the 3700 at the game? Anyone ask him any real questions? We're dyin' herrrre.................

The student section was on the side in my day so it was always hard to tell attendance because when classes weren't in session the ticket office put those tickets up for sale. I was sitting in my perch up behind BB so I didn't see the near side of the student section, but sec KK had all of 12 students and JJ had 48. It looked like the other sections were full. I joked before the game that it must be a late-arriving crowd, but it actually was. BB and CC were maybe half full and DD was almost empty at puck drop, but filled in during the first period. The lower bowl was about 60% full and the upper sections ended up being 75% full. Attendance was right around 3500 so there didn't turn out to be a bunch of no-shows. I expect there will be tonight as I heard quite a few people say they were staying home to watch the Bruins. No one I've talked to this weekend has any insight on the Ted Alfond connection, but a couple of people believe it is real - they are as mystified as everyone else is as to the reason. I did hear from a couple other alumni that they want TW out at the end of the year, including one who as recently as 2009 was on record supporting him. I did see another teammate from the 1993 team in the house again and TW does still have some support among alums.

I was hanging out in the SW center after the game and Gravelhead and crew came up the stairs. He walks over to me and says, "It looks cold out there!" First of all, cold is a feeling, not an appearance. Second, it's Orono in January..you were expecting the tropics? Then he looked into the A.L.F and saw the spread and says, "That looks good, think I'll go in!" to which I raised my eyebrow and he said, "Maybe not...I probably wouldn't be welcome with that group," to which I smiled and nodded. On the other hand, if it would get him off Joey's case, feel free...is what I wanted to say...

Stu Higgins was late coming onto the ice for the 3rd period and got stitches after the game for an injury to his hand. No word yet on the status of BOC and Pryor who were both out last night. Was very interesting to see Norman on the point in the OT PP. The winless streak at Alfond has reached 10 games and this is now the latest in the season before a home win was recorded (82-83 won it's only D-I game of the season at home vs Dartmouth on January 15). Larry said Maine had 25 Grade A chances last night which seems awfully high.

Did anyone see the sign that was held up in section N last night? The person held it up whenever a penalty was called on Maine, so I assume it was aimed at the refs but I couldn't make it out.

That was kind of odd. 45 secs left and you have 4th line players out there.

One penalty on Diamond by the Merrimack bench was a mugging to say the least,he was getting jabbed by the MC player on the ice and two players on the bench were taking their shots @#39,all with the Official holding Diamond and more or less turning the blind eye to it...what I am getting at is TW never showed any emotion or question why it was that Diamond got a penalty and was being man-handled in front of the Ref. -- I know full well that Diamond is NO angel, but in that instant you call the penalty JUST on MC not matching minors. TW backs NONE of his players, has to be hard to deal with him. He's happy with a tie...????? Ya think, well UMass & NU picked up a point on Maine to stay in the playoffs....sadly when the goal is the COVETED 8th place seed then the time has come to CLEAN HOUSE.

Whitehead just stands there nodding his head while chewing his Wrigleys. Sometimes he claps and shakes his head.

I heard WABI is going to air dead air tonight instead of the Maine game. They figure they'll have more viewers.

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

Has become..? We are well beyond that now. He is a "lame duck" coach and has now decided to run a few experiments while he still has the keys to the locker room, at the expense of these young men and their pride and talent. It was always, and still is, a shame to watch happen.

.....Tim has become a caricature.....

I always liked that target pattern. It is soothing after the sixth or seventh adult-frosty-cold-beverage.

Speaking of, it's gotta be 5 o'clock somewhere. Time to start numbing up so as to be able to watch the scoring juggernaught that is Maine Hockey.

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

Well, at least they didn't lose.

HE playoffs looking farther and farther away though, as both UMass and NU picked up 2 points they shouldn't have.

When's the last time Maine picked up 2 points they shouldn't have?

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

That was kind of odd. 45 secs left and you have 4th line players out there.[/QUOTE Reverse depth chart approach. TW is both dilusional and disfunctional. But he continues to reward 39 for poor plays. Isn't the team undefeated with 39 out of the lineup?

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

I am a little surprised 39 wasn't benched last weekend after the confrontation between him and TW after the Mercyhurst debacle. Especially when so many of the players have sucked it up and played through injuries. Particularly amazing when you consider they played against the advice of doctors, and with injuries that sound a lot worse than "back spasms". A few days ago I suggested that many of the players looked up to TW and liked playing for him. I was answered by people pointing to the abysmal W/L record and the lack of scoring. I have found you usually can measure a players desire by things that don't show up on a stat sheet. One of the many lessons I learned from Shawn.

I don't doubt they like Tim, my question is why in terms of hockey? What are they learning? They play like they practice, half speed. Most of the players turn into grinders and don't seem to progress into scorers. I just don't get it.

First in line tonight. There are ten of us. 65 students braving the cold. I think my fingers froze while typing this

you brave soul.

I'll think of you when I am eating my dragon roll...and again when I get home to see the rest of the game on TV. I'm still at work... :(
