[QIf you remember correctly, he was given the chance!UOTE=irishfan85;5612223]Too bad Marty didn't play like this last year. Team could have gone deep with a better goalie.[/QUOTE]

You're right, PP was still 0-6. Time for change Tim! And time for change; Tim
Boys did work hard; forechecked, backchecked like they haven't before
This was a different team this weekend, was it a different coach?

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

Very typical response from many hockey fans. When the team loses it's the fault of the coaching staff and when the team wins it's because of the players performance. That's the way it will always be.
Timmay doesn't deserve any benefit of the doubt. Coaches are supposed to put their team in the best position to win. You think the dump and watch the team employed against MC last weekend put them in the best position to win.? MC always had two guys deep, got to the puck first every time and broke out of the zone. That was as ugly as any hockey I've ever seen. That wasn't the players game plan.

Wins at Conte Forum: 2
Wins at Alfond Arena: 0

Bizarre is the only word to describe that.

If you followed this season and years past, which I think you do...not hard to see that their is a problem behind the bench...everyone wants Maine to win,but at the same time you see what happen down at BC,then what happen last weekend at Maine and the other games where their were no-shows on the ice and behind the bench...what people expect is hard play and coaching that gets that out of them...it never happens on a consistant basis,be happy today about the sweep...BUT come Monday its focus time again,PC on Friday...and after that focus on UML on Sunday, can't leave anymore points off the board now...Maine is playing there playoff hockey now...just to get a sniff of playoff time later.

Alfond Arena stats should be enough to get timmay fired. Hard enough to afford 3 season tickets and all that goes with it. Do we really have to leave the state to see a win? If we make the playoffs , at least we will be on the road.

KICK BC OUT OF HOCKEY RAST

But seriously, for all the Jerry York fawning, do Maine fans take any solace in this weekend's results?

Solace isnt the right word. We now know we have a serviceable goalie that when given a minimum amount of protection can steal some games. And we know that for 2 games a season we can actually be relevant. Beyond that, we learn nothing here because we all know that Timmay coached teams will fall right back flat on their faces. You see, Timmay can only get these guys up once or twice a year to play a big time opponent. The rest of the time he fails.....rather miserably.....thats been his history.....see Bentley, Mercyhurst, UConn, winless, yes thats winless streak at Alfond.....

I almost hate to say it, but Timmays almost like a virus. The sooner we get rid of him, the better off the program will be.

There is this team from Maine
Always giving their fans much pain
Sweep the National Champs?
No problem they say,
But in the cellar they remain

Still in last place in Hockey East even after a weekend sweep of BC........hard to believe that this season has been THAT bad.

Hey, off topic here but I know theres some techno geeks amongst us --
Looking to get rid of our cable and dont want satellite either .....but, still want to be able to pickup NESN, or local TV for some Maine games from WPME/WABI. Would be willing to do antenna, and hulu for movies (dont know much about that), want to be able to pickup pro football (would be happy with just Pats games which should be on local channel? ). Might consider ditching land line phones and going to cell only, or have landline with an internet DSL thru telephone company. Guess I dont care to pickup all the chit on cable anymore and can do without. Any ideas or experiences?

Who is your cable provider, Time Warner?

Sad to say this, but I fear TIMMAY saved his job with this weekend.

Although one can argue exactly the opposite. This team has had the talent, but the coach is not able to take advantage of that game in game out.

Lets see what happens this weekend, lose to PC and I doubt he saved anything

I'll go along with this. Maine looked pretty good to me. Impressed with #94 and that entire frosh line. Some good young talent on this Maine team.

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

Even if Maine went 0 for the rest of the season, I'd still bet on Whitehead returning for his final year.

I guess the sweep ups my thinking from 65% likely Whitehead returns to 85% likely, but I thought it was happening anyway.

Next year in particular will be telling. If the youngsters continue to develop, TW will get a chance to make a run, and in his contract year. Frankly, if the goaltending is there, I wouldn't bet against it. At this point, it's looking like the real disaster this year was the start of the season. 25 games in: 2-10-1 after the first 13 games, 5-4-3 over the next 12. Add a power play to the mix, and the Maine team from this weekend might be in the hunt for home ice.

I realized a long time ago that I have zero pull with the athletic department, so I'll choose to be cautiously optimistic for next season. :\
