If TIMMAY gets the boot after the season, does Corkum take over? Also, I thought his son who as I recall, good talent (U-18) was at Maine? Pucks gonna drop soon, Go Blue
Corkums son(Kelen)had to give up the game because of the Concussions.

The other native Maine goalie, Jon Gillies, will be at the Alfond on Friday with the Friars. Hope the Bears run against Maine goalies continues.

Never would have thought Maine could go into Conte and get a sweep. Unreal, Congrats to them, big step forward for confidence. Marty has been unreal, the hero of the weekend for sure but the team played great around him also. What if Marty had played like this last year?? BC had 2 of there best players out and both happen to be Dmen but you play what you have available.

Be nice to beat PC Friday night :)

Seems like they all win when i'm not watching/listening, so should I watch/listen or not?

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

Congrats, Maine! Way to go! Hope you win all the rest, save the last 2 games of the season. (You know, you actually have a pretty good GA record in Hockey East, in fact the 2nd best. If your goal scoring comes around, which it seems to be doing based on this weekend's results, well, who knows?

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

Outstanding performance by Maine!!!! This team now has confidence offensively. The goal tending has been good all year, they just needed the offense.

Time to drink deeply from the Tim Jones
punchbowl. He will take
us to the promised land.

Who would have thunk it!

Pleasantly surprised, for sure. I am glad they won. It sounded like they busted their azzez to make it happen. Just have to keep it up and see where it goes.

This does NOT, however, change the coaching situation at all...for all we know they could be getting chewed out on the bus because they didn't play it Timmay's way...

Very typical response from many hockey fans. When the team loses it's the fault of the coaching staff and when the team wins it's because of the players performance. That's the way it will always be.

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

Maine was good around the net all weekend. BC was soft there. That was the difference this weekend.

Surely if Maine's moral victory OT loss secured a contract extension for Timmay, two wins this weekend will get him another one. I'll be writing my letter of approval for Tim in the morning to send to the athletic director.

As a side note, one could argue that these are the two worst teams for each program in the past 15 years or so.

were you at the game on Saturday?
did you see how the black bears played?

unless the entire BC squad had the flu, then Maine completely outplayed BC AND Maine earned all of the bounces in that game.
Shore finally because a force in D1, winning face off after face off, AND just plain taking the puck away from EVERYONE in a BC sweater whenever he wanted to.

If Timmy lit that fire under the boys' a55es, then great... history tells me that he will not not do it on a consistent basis, but if he does... GREAT!

the whole team worked harder than they have all season, they won almost all of the loose pucks, they were, for the most part, spread out, all over the ice so that loose pucks could come to them, and they were ready to knock pucks off of BC sticks all over the ice.

this is new... this looks much more like how COrkum played the game than the way Whitehead coaches it.
if Timmy is finally allowing Bob to do some coaching, then GREAT.. a great coach knows how to delegate.

let's see what happens the next 3 weeks.... any less than .500 hockey and this weekend was just a fluke, or BC was just sick with the flu... any more than .500 sand Timmy has accomplished something.

(also it was nice to see Diamond not get called for a bunch of phantom penalties like he did 2 weeks ago in North Andover)

you hit on something there... it is pretty amazing how the landscape has changed and what constitutes a "good college hockey team" or a good line, for that matter

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

Too bad Marty didn't play like this last year. Team could have gone deep with a better goalie.
