Pro sports. I doubt to many hockey fans will head over to candlepin bowling and see it as a more enjoyable night vs watching maine vs bu/bc

You stick to candyland and tonys pizza though
If Tim is still here next year, season ticket holders will drop once again.

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

Sad but true it wont affect season tickets. Very limited alternatives on a weekend night

of course it will affect season ticket sales... big time, just as it has been affecting season ticket sales.

people used to buy season tickets at the Alfond in order to get to see the games.... the games were all sold out, so we not only had to buy two seats but we had to make a pretty hefty donation for the right to buy those seats.

nowadays not only can anyone walk up to the door and buy a ticket, but there is a great chance that someone will be trying to hawk tickets at way less than face value... Last time I went to Alfond, I got a friday seat for free because someone did not want his ticket to go to waste and I got a Saturday ticket for $10.

yes, timmy's performance is KILLING season ticket sales.

They must sell 1,000 season tickets less than they did 10 years ago. It would be interesting to see the actual attendance figures. I believe about 10 or 12 years ago they switched from people actually attending to tickets 'sold'.

How is this any different than Jack Rodrique? He couldn't skate or pay D worth spit but he had a great shot from the point. Jack never played unless it was the PP, might get a shift period other than the PP. Don't think he ever played until he was a Jr. Rodrique was awesome as his slapshot would take a goalies head off, Norman not so much.

Rodrigue was the element of surprise... neither the opposing goaltender nor Rodrigue himself knew where the puck was going when he wound up!

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

Because this is the same team that got owned by Mercyhurst. :) Obviously they can win but I suspect Jerry is a slightly better coach than Timmay.

No way!! TIMMAY owns Jehwy. Last night proved it.

Which just goes to show why TIMMAY needs to go. It's obvious there's more potential to this team, which TIMMAY only seems to be able to coax out of them at rare times. And it's not just this season, barring last year's team, this is the same story we've been seeing for the last 5-6 years. Except for the rare occasion, few and far between, TIMMAY just cannot get his teams to play up to their utmost ability.

I suspect Corkum was let off the leash this past week.

For Timmays sake, I sure as hell cant make much of last nights win. Geeezus, the guy Timmay's life is on the line, Jerry's hobblin on the bench with no vision out of one eye, the BC players have had it pounded into their heads what an awful team Maine was, two of their best D, one of who is a first rounder, are out for injuries and Maine hadnt won one on their ice there since dinosaurs roamed the earth. If this wasnt a perfect recipe for an upset, then nothing was.

Great post. This is so on the money about player development, ability to motivate a team and coaching. Timmay has wasted so much potential and talent on teams past it's sickening. And now you're not seeing that level of talent coming to Maine so the development and coaching becomes 100 times more important. Hence what we have with this years disaster.

I'm sure last night's game was a real eyeopener For BC.

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

soon it will be feb. no homes wins. worst start in maine hockey history. already has affected season ticket sales. i know two exseason ticket holder that gave up last year. more on the way as long as timmay stays. look at the board in alfond arena of all the missing big money donors used to be......... last nights game is meaningless. good for the players only. theres only one way to bring it all back.

Rodrigue was the element of surprise... neither the opposing goaltender nor Rodrigue himself knew where the puck was going when he wound up!

Nor did anyone in the balcony. One of my favorite Alfond memories is of Rodrigue coming back from a (thumb?) injury, and getting sent out late in a pretty much over game to test things out. First windup, he had plenty of power. Unfortunately, he rang it right off of a post in front of the balcony. Second attempt, as he wound up just about everyone in the balcony hit the floor.

Last time I checked Bangor is an hour and a half from any professional sports (or semi-pro) teams.

I feel bad for you...

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

You forgot Zumba classes , er wrong end of state, ahhh driving snowmobiles into lakes, ice drinking and fishing, cow tipping...the list is endless

All more fun, tho more expensive than, a weekend at alfond...

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

He is gone. If Abbott would fire Blodgett he sure as heck would gas him
The firing of Blodgett was a gift to Abbott, anyone with a pulse could have pulled that firing off,I mean she was 24-94,70 games under .500...plus pressure from a group of irate WBB fans/donors factored in also....you look at that move and think Abbott could pull it off..???...I wonder if he could/would,is he under pressure to keep TW..? Plus more or less he's a "HOBBY" A.D. with his deal coming to a end this summer, would he ax TW and leave..? I think it will be quite interesting to see what happens in the 1 to 2 weeks after the Maine Hockey season comes to a end. One Question to all if you could be the A.D. for this, what would you do,and factor in that you have to deal with money payouts/search committees/donors/fans/state wide economics.

As I said before. You have to look at this as an investment in the future of the program. You buy him out, you do the search, and make it short. The list of interested and qualified parties will be short, anyway. Most of them will be familiar with UMaine and the program. One or two of them may even have been a part of a couple of pretty good teams. If you bring in the right caliber of coach, the season ticket sales will increase.

Increase in WINS also, plus the return of Maine Hockey.!

If TIMMAY gets the boot after the season, does Corkum take over? Also, I thought his son who as I recall, good talent (U-18) was at Maine? Pucks gonna drop soon, Go Blue
