Its pretty much the same article he wrote last year at the start of the season. When will be big larry grow a pair and call lil timmay out and say put up or shut up and resign if you can't coach-win? That would be a real article versus the ok let's placate the "people: who aren't timmay fans and then back to the same old drivel he writes every year. Like Timmays quote he's a big rig about Rutt...but I won't let him check, play the body or any other contact....poke check and let your man blow by timmay's keys to D!!! The forwards will be crushed when they go to UND!! Hopefully this will be Timmay's last season of ruining Maine hockey!!!! Let's hope the new AD has enough balls to fire him or buy him out whatever it takes to get Maine going back in the right direction.

A very interesting article by Larry............

It is interesting... he talks about goaltening by saying "it all boils down to consistency and making the game-changing save. Both are capable..."

That came after noting Maine had the 2nd worst save% in the country last year.

So... how exactly has he concluded them to be "capable" of showing consistency? And what makes one "capable"? Does one just need to have a pulse and have any chance the pucks just keep hitting you to be "capable"?

great minds.
in a way, I would really like to be in North Dakota, but I do not want to see two 7-1 shellackings
(seeing Diamond and Hextall go at it would have been nice too)

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

Hard call. Does the team have enough on paper to make the NCAAs and the Garden? Yeah, I think so. But they're worse than last year, not debatable, and that team woefully fell short of itself on paper. So even though I can logic out some reasons they can win some games, last year prevents me from doing it with a straight face. Proofs in pudding

It's hard to think that since last year's team failed to get to the Garden that they could do it this year without Nyquist/House/Dee/etc.

But how many winnable games did Maine lose or tie last year that they should have won? 7 or so? (Maine's record goes to 24-9-3 if they hang on in those games)

While an NCAA tourney berth this year is a lot to ask, it's possible if they can figure out how to lock down 3rd period leads. I think a Garden appearance is more likely to happen.

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

A garden party depends on Marty, goaltending is what killed them last year, if he can keep his head in it for 60 minutes minutes this team will win some games. They won't be great but they'll win some games

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

Maine is going to have one big line with Flynn and Abbott. The PP should be good. The PK should be decent. Will the goaltending be as bad as it was last year? Is the defense minus O'Neill capable of being anything but pylons? As little depth as Maine has, they should take 24 points of a possible 30 from UMass, Providence, Lowell, Vermont and Northeastern. The question will be if they can steal games against Merrimack, BU, BC and UNH. Then, out of conference, four wins over Clarkson and Alabama are a must. Clarkson is rebuilding with a new coach and Huntsville is just horrible. A win over UMass/Cornell would be good, too. Get swept by North Dakota. That's 5 NC wins, 12 wins in league against the bottom teams. Steal two or three games against the top four teams from last year and maybe you get an NCAA bid if you do well in the playoffs.

I think it's interesting that you put Merrimack in the same class as BU, BC, and UNH. MC had a "magical run" last year of 25-10-4 but come on where was MC the past decade? I think this year Merrimack tanks and returns back to reality...the cellar..

I think this will be a good test for the Bears. Both teams lost some important pieces from last year, so we'll see. You could make an argument that ME has the 1-2 best offensive players between the two but after that, ME has nothing on Mack. (besides being at home) Better defense, better goaltending, better overall team play and most importantly, better coaching puts Mack in front imo. Hopefully the unknowns for ME come up big this year.

With that said; Maine-6 Mack-2
I am a homer.

The reason Merrimack doesn't take a huge step back is they have goaltending and defense...both of which Maine does not have. Maine has three very good players, but zero depth and no goaltending. I think Merrimack and Maine will battle it out for 4/5, just like coaches and media have predicted. And if you noticed, I said the top four from last year. Either way you look at it, Merrimack will be a lot better than Amherst, Lowell, PC, UVM and NU. I think it's the top 3 (BU, BC, UNH) then a drop off to 4-5 (MC and Maine - whatever order) and then a drop off to 6-7 (NU and UVM) then a huge drop off to 8-10 (PC, UML and UMass).

Maine also dominated Merrimack last year in the two games at the Alfond without DaCosta in the lineup for the Warriors. (4-0 and 7-1 / 70-34 in shots) Then Merrimack got DaCosta back for the HE Playoffs and it was "Game Over" for Maine.

I'd say Maine wins 4-1 tonight.

Sorry guys, after that "Marden's" commercial on the UMaine video feed, I can now say with absolute certainty that Maine is the lamest state in New England

marden's = building 19 = ocean state job lot

low budget commercials shouldn't be a surprise...

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

oh i know... it's the same character they have used for 30 years... god awful...

I thought she was hilarious to tell you the truth, I hope someone has put that commercial on youtube.

On another note, does Timmay even run special teams drills with your team?
