God bless Cosgrove and it actually worked for once. What a game. Actually disciplined....and Maine actually hit an important field goal. They're doing this with arguably the 3 best players that should be on this team out (Buttles and Dennis....and then count Turcotte if you want).

Those improvements he asked James/Abbott for a few years ago? The turf and etc? This is one of the first classes to grow up since then and they're delivering so far. Food for thought.

Maine Football on a roll with big win over JMU,they should move up in the polls/Womens Hockey off to a 4-0-0 start with two come from behind wins this weekend/Womens Field Hockey having a great start and season so far....well looks like TW's UM Hockey could be as they say in the back pages and in the rear view mirror...sad.

sportscenter's top ten plays...

#4 Bowdoin vs. Tufts (football) - Bowdoin returns an interception 99 yards for a score
#3 Bowdoin vs. Tufts (football) - Bowdoin returns an interception 100 yards for a score
#2 Treister's 2 point conversion in overtime vs. JMU

Nice win for the Bears. This team works very hard. Without Nyquist, I think this team realizes that everyone has to contribute. Unfortunately, Hegarty still makes bad decisions with the puck . I thought Sullivan looked good in goal. The score could have been 5 - 0 at the end of the first period, lots of opportunities.

Fun to go to a game in shorts, the new HVAC makes Alfond way more comfortable. Maine looked a lot better, some has to do with the competition but Maine seemed to be more comfortable. Maine also hit people today, shocked at that. For the freshman I really like Leen. Sully was ok, actually pretty good in 2nd.
The goal by Diamond was a thing of beauty, great play, great finish

Agreed on the weather & Leen...only what irks me the most was ANOTHER short-handed goal...glad for the win.

Flynn had 1 and 4 and wasn't one of the three stars? Am I missing something?

Who cares? Maine won, who gets what star is the least of this teams worries. He played well, I think Diamond played better and he didn't get a star either

Meant it less from why didn't Flynn get it then what did the others do well to get it over a player with 5 points? Media tends to look at stats most when filling out three stars. This Maine team needs depth and it would be encouraging to see guys other than Flynn and Abbott stepping up their games. That's all.

Goals were soft, Marty will be número un this year, liked the Frosh, played smart, Beatie is going to have a great year, nice to see Cornell back on D, man gene experiment still makes little sense, changes o,neil's game a lot

i believe they changed the scoring after the game. they added an assist for flynn on abbott's first goal, and leen was
originally credited with the assist on diamond's goal

A GREAT TIME…FOMH and the Mangene family hosted a tailgate party on the north end of the football field prior to the game on Sunday with plenty of great food and cold beer. There was probably between 100-150 attendees in perfect weather.

Re: Maine 2011 Offseason #2: Wondering If We'll Outdraw Women's Hoops This Year

Just wondering if any of you (old) Maine fans made the trip to the 2001 final four.

The reason I ask is me and a friend got an email that you guys released some unsold tickets a few day before the Frozen Four. We had already written any chance of going, but sure enough, we called and they sold us tickets. So day one we show up pick up our tickets and check out our seats. Front row on the glass in the Maine section. Had a blast with your fans as we all rooted for Maine over NH, and they cheered with us as we beat Michigan.

We then had to become enemies for the final game. That crazy 3rd period when you guys thought you had won it, and were giving us all kinds of crap, then the trying goal and OT. You had great fans and we had a lot of fun.

Anyway, just wondering if any of you remember the 2 Gopher fans in the front of your section.

I agree. the Mangene family purchased all the food and were there cooking the burgers etc. Special thanks to them for hosting this event along with FOMH. It was a perfect day for it.
