Re: LSSU Lakers 2016-17

Whatever is going on with the defense has to be solved by Friday night and that is the job of the coaches to make right. This team has won 6 games since November the 4th and it took the last night of play to get them into the playoffs. The last 6 games of the season were all against teams under them in league play and they could not get one win. This team seems to have the best talent in years and yet struggle to beat teams under them in the standings.

having a theory about the year. 1) You get only 6 wins since November with a schedule that you should have double that amount of wins. 2) a player leaves during the 2nd semester 3) The coach has shown at times to yell at opposing players 4) you have an equipment manager get suspended with an altercation with another player on a different team (with his previous work experience that should never happen) 4) getting out hustled and taking undisciplined penalties 5) having some of the players being more athlete/students by not going to class on game days. 6) having a brother of a player on the team now DE committing. To me this adds up to a chaotic locker room. We will definitely learn more next week on what players will leave and that would shine a light a little brighter.

It is my understanding that the school would have to release the player from his NLI, but I can't see anything about it on the Lakers page, or the Capitals.

if the players leave to go pro, hopefully after a few more weeks, I don't think it'll prove anything. There's always a few guys outside of the seniors that leave to go pro.

Now if some leave for D3 or something, then that may be more of a sign.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2016-17

Lakers have improved over last season, but probably not as much as we liked. We went from 28 losses in 14/15 to 22 losses in 15/16 and now probably 18 losses once this season ends. We are still heading in the right direction, just a little slower than we want. Next season should be the big test for Damon Whitten.

Anyone here making the trip to Houghton this weekend?

I have been thinking that for a long time with this team. They have talent but do not seem to play well together. My thought is a locker room that has some issues going on inside.

I am still debating on whether to go or not. You going?

Paul getting suspended has nothing to do with any of the other items on your list. Every player in that locker room loves that guy. If there is a chaotic locker room, it isn't because of that.

People who have never seen the inside of the room are usually the most knowledgeable

Had he signed an NLI? The words here indicate a verbal commitment. A '98 is generally unlikely to have signed an NLI unless you knew he were coming in the fall for sure.

I was under the impression that he had signed one, but I'm not sure where to find that information.

It's curious because everywhere I've looked still lists him as being committed to Lake State.

I remember he signed one but I can't remember the rules of how long they are good for. It seems like two years but not really sure.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2016-17

eupwnews.com has a page that indicates that he had signed an NLI, but the server won't respond to me. That could be due to the Amazon S3 outage. NationalLetter.org won't open for me, either. Schools can release kids out of NLIs, but I don't hear of it happening often. I wouldn't if I were Damon Whitten.

GFM

Unless there is a good reason why he doesn't want to come here, I wouldn't release him either. If Whitten is worried about him being toxic, since he doesn't want to be here, then I could see an outside chance.

You don't want to ruin a kid's playing career, but if he committed to something, he should have to see it through.
