Gordie did give up a couple weak goals tonight. The 2nd and 5th Ferris State goals I thought Gordie should of had.
I also agree Hults has fallen off lately. Maybe the pressure of trying to get signed to a pro contract is getting to him. He has only one goal the past eight games.
Also I was wrong the Lakers haven't clinched a playoff spot yet.

Actually LSSU has not clinched. According to the league office, if there is a 3 way tie between NMU, UAH and LSSU, LSSU would be eliminated, based upon having the fewest conference wins.
If that's true that's ridiculous. LSSU went 4-0 against UAH.

Damon did not sound very happy in the post game. I've noticed a few games this season the Lakers come out like gangbusters out playing the other team only to get outplayed and lose the game. I hope the coaches are trying to figure a way to fix that for next season.
In a 3 way tie, LSSU loses out due to having fewer league wins than either NMU or UAH.
Seeds 1-2-3 are locked with Bemidji, Tech & Mankato. Ferris & BG will face each other in round 1 as the 4-5 seeds, host yet to be determined. Fairbanks is locked in at 6 and will travel to Mankato. 2 of LSSU/NMU/UAH will occupy the 7-8 seeds.

We got vintage Gordie as he very well had his best game of the year tonight. Hope he plays like this at Michigan Tech next weekend.

Senior weekend, playoffs on the line, Ferris State in town. 1150 Friday & 1792 Saturday. 2942 total. No other school had that few for Saturday night alone. 6 of the 8 other games played had more than the Lakers total for the two nights. Pitiful. At least now we can go to Houghton where the players can actually experience what it's like to play in front of a "crowd."

Whatever is going on with the defense has to be solved by Friday night and that is the job of the coaches to make right. This team has won 6 games since November the 4th and it took the last night of play to get them into the playoffs. The last 6 games of the season were all against teams under them in league play and they could not get one win. This team seems to have the best talent in years and yet struggle to beat teams under them in the standings.

This weekend aside, tickets sold at home this year are up considerably. If Northern had played anyone else they would have been much lower, but the MTU home and home series will always draw large crowds. Will be interesting to see what Tech draws this weekend.

It was just pretty disappointing to see the lack of people we had on Senior Night. As for the trip to Tech, we'll need Gordie to stand on his head to have a chance.

Tech will be on spring break this weekend, so that may have an impact on Saturday's crowd. It looks like tickets are pretty limited for the game, so I think it will be pretty full even with some students being gone.

Very good game. Both goalies played well. Although the SOG were similar both nights, I thought our defensive play was better the second game. Although Ferris had a big push in the 2nd period and outplayed the Lakers that period pretty badly, we kept a lot of their skating and shots to the outside. Friday night they were getting a lot of guys open in the weak side faceoff circles and then hitting them with clean passes from the opposite side both high and deep, and getting really great scoring chances off that. We did a lot better job of defending that on Saturday. We also did a better job of giving Gordie clean looks at most of the Ferris shots. That said, there were too many defensive lapses allowing Ferris wings to bet behind our D; fortunately they didn't capitalize on that.
It was nice to get the points and edge out Northern for 7th. Makes for easier travel for the team and broadcast crew. On the downside, I think we match up better with Bemidji than Tech and would have liked our chances better there. But Tech has struggled at time this season scoring goals so if we can keep the scores low, we might have a shot next weekend.
