LSSU Lakers 2016-17

Re: LSSU Lakers 2016-17

Looks like Bindulis is not in the lineup tonight. Wonder if he's not ready to play yet and not on the trip, or maybe will play tomorrow night.

I was able to catch the game on the NCHC TV package but they did not mention why he was out. The Lakers had some good opportunities to take the lead in the 1st, but once again were unable to finish on chances. Hand had a great opportunity right in front to tie it at 2 moments before Omaha went up 3-1.

The 2nd Omaha goal was an awful missed clearing attempt.

Not much to say when you give up 5 goals in the third period. Northern is and has been playing bad hockey. If Lake State can't take Northern, this season will be in big trouble.

I didn't catch any of the game (we had company over). One of the things they need to get a better handle on is giving up short handed goals. The PP has been struggling not only scoring (although we did get a pp goal yesterday), but I think we must have given up a half dozen or so shorties this season. From looking at the box score, yesterday after regaining the lead and being on the pp, we gave up a short handed goal to tie the game back up; if that had been a pp goal for us instead, then it's a whole different game.

I was able to watch the game, and I have to say those first two periods were absolute gems. UNO couldn't get anything going on offense. Our D was absolutely shutting them down. Third period, however, Lakers were gassed. A two goal lead did not feel safe, and it wasn't in the end. Right before UNO had the SHG to tie it at 3, the Lakers missed out on one of those freak goals where the goalie was on his side and the puck was almost rolling along his side on top of him. Bizarre to see.

Their play the first two periods was very inspiring to see. I get the feeling that some of our league opponents would not be able to hang around in the manner Omaha did.

These next 4 games against Northern could very well break or make the season for Lake State . Northern has four wins on the season and one win in their last 13 games.

Last 13 games LSSU 2-10-1. Not much difference between the teams right now. It's a very important 4 games for both clubs. Anything more than a split goes a long way for both teams. Hope to see good fan support at the Taffy. Any good places to eat within walking distance of the Hampton Inn out on the Spur?

The good ship Laker deserved a better fate against Nebraska and outplayed them for most of the weekend. Methinks they will turn it around in 2017 under the watchful eye of head coach Damon Whitten who is leading this young team to greatness once again.

Tune into the Hockey North Show with Randy Russon from http://www.hockeynewsnorth.com and http://www.saultthisweek.com for more on the good ship Laker on the Hockey North Show tonite at 5 on radio station ESPN 1400.

Ringy Dingy!

Walking distance does limit things, plus there are no sidewalks along the business spur out by the Hampton Inn. Karl's Cuisine down on Portage St across from the locks is very good (although a little pricey), but that's not walking distance from the Hampton Inn.

Thanks folks. Much appreciated!

I believe this weekend was originally going to be a bye week with the Lakers playing NMU in the Sault next weekend and then in Marquette the last weekend of February before the change in the playoff format changed the scheduling.

To make a needed move they must take 11 of 12 points. NMU is definitely a true basement team. The Lakers's at first did not seem that way but these games will show us if they over achieved at the beginning of the year.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2016-17

Kind of a shaky win but a big win nonetheless and a much needed 3 points in the standings. Hopefully the Lakers can play a more complete game tomorrow night and come away with a road win at Northern.

Damon didn't seem too happy during the postgame tonight. He said there were some passengers.

Didn't listen or watch the game. Did the goaltending suck or did the defense suck?

Edit: Anyone here go to the game at NMU tongiht? How is the video board there?
