LSSU Lakers 2014 off-season thread (part 2)

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off-season thread (part 2)

Whitten did not recruit this kid - Roque did. So, this acquisition cannot be credited to Whitten.

That would be true if he had committed under Roque (Jujhar Kharia and Blake Pietila were Jamie Russell's recruits, even though he "resigned" before either arrived at MTU), but he didn't verbal until after Whitten took the helm. Therefore, he is Damon's recruit.

It will be interesting to see how many of Whitten's recruits will get gassed when all is said and done. Actually recruiting 30-35 kids is brilliant for Lake State. It's like what they're doing with their JV basketball program. LSSU is lacking in academic reputation, so it won't bother anyone at the school when they're cut. Sure it's all fun and games until a parent sues the school for breach of contract!

Not to beat a dead horse midge but you need to move on.

He looks like a great addition for next year and I look forward to seeing him play.

A post such as this is indicative of your disdain for the program and really shows how little you know....the Lakers just acquired a true blue chipper and one that Roque himself was heavily after. This player could have been playing in the O last year as a 16 year old. As it was he was one of the better defensemen for a very strong T-bird squad last year and is expected to be the go to player on the back-end for the same team this year.

In addition to Headrick, I really like a couple of the other (future season) recruits Damon has gotten commitments from recently. All of the recent recruits may turn out to be good pickups for that matter, but I really like the sounds of Headrick and two of the other guys.

The Soo Eagles have added Keegan Miller, son of former Laker Kurt Miller, to their roster. He had 2 goals Saturday night in exhibition against the Thunderbirds.

I remember Kurt Miller. Good solid forward from Taconite MN.

Ok, Whitten's recruit, but Roque set him up perfectly for the catch!

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off-season thread (part 2)

Midge , are you still upset Roque is gone ? Roque had enough years to make the program a winner and even in a weaker league he had the team at the bottom. Midge, what happen to Roque is what happens to coaches . Had Roque come back , everyone and their momma would have known even before the season started that the Lakers would once again be at the bottom. Change had to be made and where that change takes the team will only be known in time .

Cuglietta is one of the Top 5 returning scorers for the BCHL and was 24th overall in total points last year

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off-season thread (part 2)

I don't think there is any question that we have improved in the recruiting game because of coach Whitten, but Metro and Aubrey have been doing a great job of hitting the trails hard too. This will be a very solid coaching staff for recruiting. I like having a goaltending coach, especially with 4 new guys, I think Aubrey will do a heck of a job with them. Personally I think Tech will be top 3 in the conference this year but I also see the Lakers being a middle of the pack team this year. There is some good talent here and a new atmosphere.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014 off-season thread (part 2)

Me thinks Whitten was on his way out the door at Tech and got lucky with the offer from LSSU.

After 11 weeks of enjoying this thread again, I see that pointless vitriol - and in this case ignorance - has reemerged.
