LSSU Lakers 2014-15

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

Megariotis is big. Looking forward to seeing what he can do. Hopefully he gets a chance.
Maybe he'll get a shot in one of the games at the Florida holiday tournament. It would be a good opportunity to get him some playing time and experience.

I don't know why Whitton would rotate goalies now . Even a North Dakota fan wrote on this site he was shocked Defiel wasn't pulled from the Friday night game and even more shocked Defiel was still the goalie for the Saturday night contest against North Dakota . It is probably all about wins at this point and it doesn't matter if they are conference wins or non conference . Whitton does not want to claim the all time most losses in a season his first season as a head coach but is heading that way at this point and his thinking may be that Defiel is the starting goalie and the best goalie to stall the march toward the worse record ever at Lake State. There have been plenty of spots to switch goalies in games all season and still that hasn't been done .

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

We have another recruit for next season, forward Josh Henke. He's out of the Detroit area, played Junior hockey in the USHL and USPHL (formerly EJHL), went to the University of Maine for a season, left after a coaching change, went back to the New Jersey Hitmen of the USPHL where he's currently playing, and reportedly will be with the Lakers next Fall. Not sure, but it might be a recruited walk-on situation. No doubt he's looking for a fresh start.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

I wonder what conference Arizona State will try to join for the 2017-2018 season . Merry Christmas everyone .

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

The NCHC would make the most sense.
Makes me wonder if the NCHC will try to take either Bowling Green or Minnesota State to try to make it an even ten teams. I doubt Bowling Green will go since from what I heard they are unhappy with travel expensives and moving to the NCHC will add even more to the expenses.

My guess would be Minnesota State of those two.

From both a geographic and travel expense point of view, it makes more sense for Arizona State to go to the NCHC instead of the WCHA. It will increase travel costs for either conference, but the NCHC schools can probably better afford it.

A lot of people seem to think there will be shuffling of the western conferences over the next few years, and that (if it happens) obviously will have an impact on where Arizona State is likely to go.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

Arizona State would be a shorter trip than going to Alaska.

True, but pretty much everyone going to play at ASU is going to have to fly there. That's a big added expense, especially for the generally smaller (at least budget wise) schools of the WCHA. Now if ASU said they would cover most of the cost of schools going to play there, fine, but failing that it's not something that WCHA schools are going to want to take on.

I would be surprised if the current league set-ups remain in a few years. Way to much distance between the WCHa schools and Big Ten and NCHC schools .

Big 10 should remain the same. I agree with the WCHA and NCHC setup changing. I'm guessing within the next 3-5 years.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

If there is no two goalie system this weekend , we have our answer if the back-up is ever going to get a shot.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

Seems Ron Fogarty is having as much trouble at Princeton as Whitton is at Lake State.

A case of a new coach with a very young team. And although I don't follow Princeton hockey, Fogarty may also be changing their style of play.
