LSSU Lakers 2014-15

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

Nice to hear on the hockey show last night that we are still in the running for a potential recruit who apparently has narrowed his choices to Minnesota and the Lakers after having removed BU from his consideration.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

That's like the pot calling the kettle black! I know who YOU are too. Funny how this tread consists of just a few people making posts under many different screen names!

Funny..............I suspected you were clueless when you did not know Bill was Bill. I post infrequently so you have no way of knowing me either.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

Who's all making the trip west to Marquette this weekend? Should be a great matchup, would love to be able to catch some games at Berry if I could :/

I will probably be going to Friday's game. The weather forecast as of right now looks favorable for traveling this weekend.

When we see your willingness to travel and then look at all the rinks you've visited it seems inevitable an Alaska visit is in your future.
If you follow those who have proceeded you, you'll tie it to a UA_ and UAA see em both in one trip deal.
Great!
You'll be hooked. Once you've been here you'll be back.
One trip to the Great Land is never enough.
Let us know when you're coming and we'll buy you and your companions a couple.
Can't wish you luck this season however IMHO both our programs are headed in the right direction.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

On the hockey show this week, Damon said they have been trying different line combinations in practices over the bye week in an effort to see if some combinations look like they may be able to generate more offense. It will be interesting to see what the lines look like this weekend against Northern.

..... oh, and when making up a story (like seeing "Bill" at the UAH games) you should try to keep your 'stories' straight. "Bill" is the all knowing, all TELLING Laker Hockey expert, yet he made no mention of being at the games, how they played, etc. etc. If you're going to be a good con artist and not trip yourself up, you might want to think before you post!

Looking forward to a great hockey weekend with a UP rival. LSSU is battling for a playoff spot and NMU is hoping for home ice in the playoffs. This should be worth the drive! And to Schizo with the 14 screen names, but all with the same tired message, get over it.

I usually make a couple of trips up to the Soo each season for Lakers games. This season I made it up for the NMU series in October and the UAH series a week and a half ago. The Lakers played well enough to win against UAH but couldn't finish on most of their grade A scoring chances. I didn't comment on it at the time because that result shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. It's been a problem all season. I talked to several Lakers fans on this latest trip and I know some of them participate on this forum.

A likely story. That's okay ... you may be fooling some of the people on here, but I know who you really are. The jig is up. I'll keep it to myself for now ... it would be pretty embarrassing for you otherwise.

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

I have 1,700+ followers, which is more than the official has. And there are way more than 6 people who feel that the program is not headed in the right direction! But people can judge for themselves by following me at @LakeStateHockey
!

So please tell me...when was this program ever heading in the right direction over the past dozen years or so???? I gave you my opinion...Frank Anzalone seemed to have this program back on track but he self destructed. Roque was an able recruiter for Frank and not a bad side kick but he more than proved that he did not have the ability to be the head coach that Lake State so desperately needed...he inherited a pretty decent team from Frank but was unable to do anything with it.....he left a broken and dispirited team for Whitten. Whtten, thus far has managed to go far and wide in search of recruits (something Jim never did) and has managed to land some pretty good young talent. I have to think that he is laying the foundation for a solid program, much as Frank was doing, and we will see the results by his 3rd year.

You have your opinion and that's fine but please don't get all ****y when many of the posters here are calling you on it, all I asked was for you to give this coaching staff a chance....

Anzalone (the first time around) did a good job, but he inherited a lousy team from Borek the second time around (before self destructing). Talk about taking the program backwards ... that's what Borek did. I enjoyed Jackson's time here as well. Roque didn't search far and wide for talent due to a limited budget. Had there been more money, it would have been a better situation. Whitten got ALOT more money, so he BETTER produce! I'm willing to wait the 3 years. Just hope he knows how to put the right lines together on the ice. We shall see.

Are you so sure Whitten's budget is that much larger? I know that the recruiting budget increased during Jim's final couple of years with the "back to the attack" initiative and Jim did a pretty decent job recruiting with the budget he had, he brought in some pretty good players and a few of them have since gone on for a cup of coffee in the NHL. Jim's problem was not recruiting, but rather what he did (or didn't do) with the talent he had.

Not sure where you're getting your info from, but, as far as I know, Roque didn't get any Back to the Attack money for recruiting ... but Whitten sure is. They're burning through it!

Re: LSSU Lakers 2014-15

I am really curious how many players will be brought in next season with only 3 guys leaving. Seems Whitten has 6 or 7 players recruited for the coming season.

I don't think your alone in wondering that. Damon has said he will continue to try and get better and better players.

It seems that recruiting became worse once Laprade became an assistant, as far as offense goes.
