I am @LakeStateHockey on Twitter, and I would like to say a few things on my behalf. First of all, I am a long time fan of Laker Hockey. And I've followed the program under several coaches, therefore I don't think it's fair to refer to me as a 'Roquette'. I am not pro-Roque, nor am I anti-any-other-coach. I am pro-Laker Hockey-program! I like to see W's and that's the bottom line. I have been tweeting for Laker Hockey since November 2010, so I've been around for quite awhile. LSSU was happy to let me tweet for Laker Hockey ... heck, their AD didn't even know what Twitter was until some of my tweets started calling for her head (around the time Roque was fired). You see, prior to that, the AD did not see the importance of social media in the grand scope of things, and it was easier for her to let me do the job, rather than assign the responsibility to someone employed by the university. And so, for 4 years I tweeted my heart out in support of Laker Hockey. Such short-sightedness on the part of the AD again makes me question those in charge up on the hill and their ability to assess what is relevant in the support and promotion of a Division 1 hockey program. I mean, what AD lets someone not employed by the university be the sole Twitter account on behalf of their only Division 1 sport? I guess it would be the same AD who approved this video to be tweeted on the Official Laker Hockey Twitter account:

As for Lake State "pushing to change my display name", quite honestly the only leg they had to stand on was the Twitter policy that relates to Impersonation. They said that I was trying to "impersonate" Laker Hockey. From the beginning, I never claimed to be official, nor was I attempting to impersonate anyone; they simply did not exist - there was no official Laker Hockey Twitter - I was the only game in town until September 4, 2014 when they tweeted their first tweet ever! So for the previous 4 years I tweeted solo as a fan site. I've always been a fan site. But, as far as Twitter policy goes, that's how they were able to get Twitter to temporarily suspend my account. Since then, I have jumped through all the hoops and made some changes to my account that Twitter has required, and I'm 100% bonafide good-to-go!
Personally, I think it's pretty cool that I exist as an 'independent' Laker Hockey Twitter. Between myself and the Official you get two different points of view. One is independent and not being paid for their opinion, and the other is like the government, where they are carefully controlling and spinning what they say, sort of like the White House Press Secretary does. I love free speech and am the unadulterated version, and the Official is like the government version ... akin to Snowden vs. the U.S. Government ... NPR vs. Fox News ... Jon Stewart vs. Brian Williams ... I think you catch my drift.
If you're on Twitter, give me a follow ... I'll keep you enlightened with anything and everything a Laker Hockey fan might want to know, and even some stuff you didn't realize you needed to know! See you on Twitter @LakeStateHockey!!
