It was mentioned by Damon Whitten on last week's Laker Hockey Show (or maybe it was the week before?) that Defiel has three years of eligibility at LSSU. The rationale behind that wasn't discussed, but at most we'll have Gordie for three seasons in a Lakers uniform.

It seems the New Hampshire goalie DeSmith has been kicked off the team for domestic abuse. It is about time players are tossed from teams for domestic abuse . Get rid of all the pros and colege players charged with domestic abuse .

Seems Whitton is recruiting so many players that next season he will be able to put two different teams out on the ice on weekends.

You say this team is no good then complain that other players are being brought in. Do you realize this.

What I am saying is there are only 3 seniors leaving but seems more then three are being recruited for next season and I am wondering if Whitton is some how going to get rid of a few players the way Anzalone did when he came back the second time.

Also , this team is not very good and until we see Whitton' s recruits , we just have to hope Whitton is bringing in a better talented group of players.

I'm guessing we'll see between 6-8 new guys next season. As Whitten has stated more than once, the current senior class of 3 is too small and he wants more balance between class sizes. It didn't start off that small, but between a couple of guys leaving early for the pros and Roque telling a couple of other guys they wen't going to play so they might as well go elsewhere, we're down to a small senior class. I don't know how Whitten is going to juggle hockey scholarship money next season but that's part of his job. Maybe some of the incoming players will also qualify for some academic scholarship money. That would make things easier, but I don't know if that's the case. Whether any current guys leave early, either for the pros or because they aren't willing/able to play Whitten's uptempo system, remains to be seen.

So for those at the game, did the Lakers play that bad defensively, was it bad goaltending, or some of both?

What a see-saw game that was. A little bit of everything, plus three Laker goalies.

Obviously the Lakers have a lot to work on defensively. It's like the entire team clenches up whenever the puck gets below the hash-marks. But the fortitude they showed in the third was impressive. And a little bit of hate now for the Nanooks should prove to make an interesting setting for tomorrow night's game.

And for the inveitable poster who comes on here and asks "were you even at the game??", the answer is yes, yes I was.

I think you can add bad offense to that list, as well. The Lakers really struggled the 2nd period. They couldn't get the puck out of their own zone, even on the power play. Stringing together more than one pass was a rare event. The Lakers seemed a half-second behind on most plays.
