Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Seriously who is that crazy man thats posting the crazy stuff? Anyways from the Notre Dame side of things you guys did play extremely well last night and a couple of my fellow season ticket holder felt lucky to come away with that win. We know that you guys are a better team than you were earlier this season and that no matter if we had to face Alaska or you guys in this second round that we were going to have a battle on our hands that couple be taken to a three game series easily. I was extremely impressed with your net-minder. Regardless if you win this series or not I think you guys do have a promising future. Good luck tonight, although of course I hope we have better luck.

Most posters on this site are Laker fans who have followed the team for years. The poster you referred to is basically a "Roque hater" who roots against the team and makes the same comments over and over. Consensus is that he is the father of a player recruited by Frank Anzalone and released from the team by Jim Roque, thus the hateful comments. Many posters on the site have him on ignore because he has nothing to offer except the same ramblings over and over. I've read you thread for a long time and Irish Hockey Fan has posted for many years.

And you're right.....KK is a very good goaltender.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Character win tonight.

This weekend we are seeing the team most of us knew this Laker squad could be this year. The frustrating part is they so seldomly played up to their potential this season.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Great win for the Lakers! If they can keep the game close tomorrow, they have a chance to move on to the Joe. The Seniors want to keep playing.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Holy moly, what a win. When the Lakers went down 2-0, it looked like the season was coming to an end, but the Lakers showed a lot of character and didn't give up. Gotta give Roque credit too.

Huge play by Lain and Haines at the end of the first to get LSSU back in it at 2-1 going into the 2nd. They were not looking good at that point so that was a huge goal. Also nice to see 4 goals put up without Acton or Schofield scoring. That is the secondary scoring we have been looking for all year. Maybe Cassiani is getting hot at the right time with 2 goals tonight.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Way to go Lakers. Jazz singer i agree a hundred percent with you. Come out even harder tomorrow night guys like you are capable of.

It sure would be nice to get that first goal tomorrow night instead of playing from behind.

On the other hand though, it has to give them confidence to know that they can come back from a couple of goals if they do get behind early in the game.

GREAT win Saturday night!!!!! Do it again on Sunday and I'll be at the Joe on Friday. Go
LAKERS!!!

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Two strong performances on the road. Nice to see Fred get a couple, also. Let's hope KK's performance in goal makes the Irish think they need the perfect shot to score.

I hope they practice PK in their skate today. With MSU already out, the league needs ND at the Joe. For a team that was a point away from winning the league title, ND has certainly had their ups and downs this season. Let's hope it continues. Go Lakers!

Yeah, I hate to be the guy moaning about the refs after a win, but that last elbowing penalty on Trotman was absolute garbage. Happened right in front of me and I couldn't believe the refs made a call on that play.

On another note, I am now a HUGE fan of media time outs. The Lakers were getting absolutely murdered at the start of the third period. Notre Dame was flying and it was only a matter of time til they scored. Then a media time out gave the Lakers a chance to regroup, and we scored about minute later.

Overall a very nice game by the Lakers. Cassiani was fantastic and the whole team looked very good. That was the first live game I saw this year and it is hard to believe that the team that played last night is several games under .500 on the year.

A standing room only crowd at the Joyce last night, but they were pretty quiet. I was very surprised that in the final minute of the game with the home team down by one and on a power play with an empty net, everyone seemed to be sitting on their hands (except the Laker fans). :)

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

Mogerfan what was your take on Hobbins boarding call. To me and my wife on tv it looked like a good hit and i was crossing my fingures when they were confabing on 2 or 5 but the ccha has really cracked down on hard checks. Watching some of the WCHA games convinces me of that.

The biggest gripe most of the season ticket holders that i know have had is not the losing but losing without playing to their potential.

Go Lakers come out strong and keep it going.

I didn't see that hit as there was someone standing up in front of me getting to their seat. Though laker_one was sitting next to me and he saw it. He said it was definately a penalty and kind of a dumb play by Hobbins.

My biggest officiating gripe I think was the amount of interference ND was getting away with in the transition game. our second and third guys into the offensive zone were getting mugged all night. With all that interference, you'd almost think Jeff Jackson was coaching Notre Dame. oh, wait.....

I was there with Mogerfan, and I got a pretty good look at the boarding call. I don't think it was too bad of a call. I haven't seen any replay on it, but I remember that it looked like the ND player turned himself at the last moment and Hobbins got him pretty squarely on the back. The ND player was close to the boards so it wasn't a dangerous hit and 5 would have been too much. I also wasn't surprised by the tripping call on Acton with about 5 minutes left. Both seemed like penalties the Lakers should have avoided taking. But that elbowing penalty on Trotman at the end was just absurd. The players came together face-first and they both had their hands up. I'm not sure how you could even land an elbow in that situation. It's the kind of BS that always has made Laker fans grumble that the CCHA is trying to get the match-up it wants at the Joe.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

From the online feed, it definitely looked like Trotman deserved some sort of penalty. It looked like both hands came up in the face of the Notre Dame guy. Elbowing didn't seem to make sense. I wish they would have showed a replay, though, because it happened so fast.

I agree, all season it was which team was going to show up the 'A' team or 'B' team. I have always felt the 'A' team can play with anyone. They have shown that to be true the past 3 weekends; with the last game against Miami, the 2 games against Ohio State and so far in South Bend. It has been a true pleasure to watch them play the last two night. One more and on to the Joe!!!!

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey

The Lakers have put up more of a fight than many thought they would and they should certainly be proud of themselves for that, but the job is not finished yet, should be a good game 3!!!

Yeah, that is my main complaint about the feed. I mean it's hard to complain about a free feed where my only other option is listening to Bill Crawford, but I'd like a few more replays for things that happen with LSSU. They don't hesitate to show replays after ND goals so they have the capabilities, I just want a few more to get a closer looks at some plays.
