Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Whitehead out at Maine.

"Win or go home" appears to be the mantra at some schools.
A lot of Maine fans have been hoping for this for a number of years now. No big surprise. Maine had some good seasons during the first half of his tenure there, but hasn't done much in recent seasons.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

The fired Denver coach may be looking at a new home with Whitehead out .

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Whitehead's assistants make more than Roque

O.K got you....we understand.....yes bathroom attendance earn more in tips than the entire Laker coaching staffs salaries...so we might as well just give up....we have no money, no future and a coach who cannot win...disband the program and move in the Mohawks and have them play in a brand new beer league, I'm sure they'll be able to afford to hire Roque with money derived from their empty beer can returnables.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Any word on the Norris Center Project? The lack of news is really concerning me. I would of thought we would of heard news shortly after the season ended.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

The "unnamed donor" friend of Roque has been very quiet. He is probably waiting to make sure that his buddy stays on as coach for another couple of years, before officially committing to the new paint for the empty seats or a gondola at the Norris Center. If you people up there think keeping the current coach on, isn't a condition for spending the money, you are more naive than I thought. Just look at the evidence, donor not willing to be named, and no info or movement on this so called project, 8 years of the same product on and off the ice. I will agree with the Roque apologists on here about one thing, it is all about money in keeping this guy.

The Truth Is Out There....

Zzzzzzzzzzz.....blah blah blah....it looks like that broken record is still spinning. Every single Truth Squad Serum Sisters post is the same....over and over and over and over...must be Groundhog Day! Now Truthies, let me make double sure I have this right...you don't like Jim Roque, right? Personally, I'm not a big fan of his winning percentage either. Something needs to be done to improve this program. But until you put money into recruiting, pay assistants enough that they don't work second jobs and pay a head coach salary that won't be a pay cut for a USHL coach or a good college assistant, you are probably not going to find that miracle needle in the coaching haystack. It's possible, but then again, the Lions could win the Super Bowl too. Even the Hall of Famer couldn't even win 10 in today's college hockey at LSSU.

The release of Gwozdecky was over a contract dispute pertaining to an extension. Denver had 12 straight 20 win seasons and six straight 20 win seasons. This was about money.

. . . and a complete lack of success at the NCAA level . . . . and an AD who has been unabashedly pushing basketball at Denver for several years . . . . and an AD who is known to dislike hockey . . . and on top of that, a coach who had more power than the AD and more control over the direction of the athletics program . . . and a coach who wanted more money and a longer contract.

There was more than money that pushed George out the door at Denver.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Nobody said LSSU could not afford a new coach. All I know for sure is that the Athletics Department has gotten away with under-paying the current coach (at least in relation to his peers). There is no indication that the Athletics Department could not pay more. I think its short-sighted to assume, and presume, that the "Hockey Coach Salary" is capped at the current level of pay being offered to Jim Roque.

I admit I don't know anything -- I am not an insider, nor do I even pretend to be an insider. I just wanted to mention that "Current Salary Level" and "Available Salary Level" are not always equal when you are discussing replacing an employee.

I didn't realize that. Thanks for the clarification!

Oh basketball is a big part for sure. Less money for hockey means more money for BBall.

And every year around this time you and the rest of the Roque apologists utter the same excuses, same vitriol, and a few of you people up there, even clever enough to come up with new excuses for this coach. Year 8 off season is we can't afford anyone else and there are no other options. Next year it will be, we still can't afford anyone else, give us another year to adjust to this new conference, and he better win in year 10 or else, followed by he better win in year 11 or else.
Looks like the "unnamed donor" has gone into hiding. Baaaaaaa!

The "truth " may be out there. But you obviously have no grasp of it. You call me a Roque apologist. You must have missed the post where I stated "Roque sucks." I know you didn't miss the one where I said, "Roque has not won enough, not nearly enough," because you quoted the post and deleted that very important part of the post. At best you're a girl with an ax to grind. At worst, you're delusional.
