LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Makes you wonder if the Lakers will actually beat anyone else this season. Bowling Green is playing better than Lake State and so is Alaska and Ferris State and Northern MI is always a tough team to beat at home. Maybe Roque will say it was nice watching Ohio score at will in the first period.

I'd say they are going to have an extremely tough time getting back to .500 in the CCHA. If they somehow get things together and sweep BG next weekend, then maybe I can see them getting back to .500 if they also play well in the following 4 home games, but I don't think much of their chances. There just isn't enough consistency in their play to envision them putting together any kind of decent winning streak, and now even the goaltending seems to be a bit shaky.

Murdock was due to have a bad game, I'm sure he'll bounce back as will Kapalka. I'm more concerned about the offense.

I am concerned about the entire team. Four losses in their last six games in league play and the Lakers have given up 253 shots in that period. Mi was being beaten by everyone and everyone and their mother were scoring against them. Ohio State had the worse powerplay and worse offense in league play and they buried the Lakers with nine goals. This late in the season and the only thing we have hope on are the goalies ? The offense is missing and the defense isn't performing much better.

Alabama-Huntsville has one win in division one hockey and that came at beating Lake State . Alabama has a total of three wins and the other two wins came against Finlandia with a school population of 550 kids. You sure as hell don't want to start your second half of league play with one tie,a win, and four losses, and of your last four opponents, three of them are playing much better hockey than your are. Something is missing when you have possibly two of the top goalies in college hockey and your only hope of winning is dependent on them . Makes you wonder when your head coach sees a Friday night loss as nice. The GOALIE PLAYED NICE,THE TEAM PLAYED NICE,I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS. I WANT A COACH UPSET ABOUT LOSING, NOT IT WAS NICE .

A bit of a train wreck this weekend. I can't imagine there are any positives. A slumping OSU team, in a 3/4 empty building. And you just got whipped. Well, I hope they can regroup quickly. This weekend hurt in more than just the standings.

I'm sure Coach Roque was happy after getting swept. Perhaps he could send you some Tweets after every game and share his true feelings with you.

The funk has lasted longer than just this weekend. We knew that scoring, as has often been the case for many years, was going to be a challenge (compounded by Jean leaving for the pros and Campbell being injured). Defense and goaltending is supposed to be the strength of this team, but the Lakers have been giving up too many shots on goal for several weeks now, which is an indication of the defense (both forwards and D) not playing well enough, and this weekend the goaltending was even shaky. Obviously the final game score is much more important than shots on goal, but the pattern over recent weeks is a bit disturbing. This season is getting close to being toast if they don't turn things around very quickly.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

It seems like the Lakers play to their compition alot like the Tigers used too. They can play the good teams well and have problems with the ones they should beat. We'll see what happens this weekend in Bowling Green. I haven't seen them in person in a while and plan to attend the Saturday game. Hopefully they will bring their game(s) this weekend.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Anyone go to the Laker Hockey Show? What were some of the comments?
I heard most (but not all) of it.

Comments on last weekends games: they played better Saturday than Friday but didn't get good goaltending; some of the players are trying too hard; a break here or there and things might have gone the other way on Friday night. KK wasn't aggressive enough Friday and was pulled

Talked to Zach Loesch and Zach Sternberg about playing Laker hockey and how they were doing in school.

Roque said there has been some talk of both the nWCHA and the NCHC using the same officials interchangeably.

Nothing on recruiting although that should be pretty much done for next season anyway. It wasn't mentioned on the show but they still have an offer out to a kid from Alberta for next season, but haven't heard back from him yet; he just visited a couple of weeks ago.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Lakers definitely need a split this weekend or else they are in trouble. I really think a 1st round bye is out of reach, hopefully they can get at least home ice for the first round.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Bowling Green is playing better hockey than the Lakers are at this moment.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

After last weekend, everyone is playing better.

However, this team has shwon itself to be remarkably able to bounce back. Some good goaltending and tighter defense should yield results.

Frankly, I was of the opinion that if they could get 6 of 12 points on this road swing, that would be not-too-bad. So now they have to sweep on the road. Hmmmm . . .

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

I can't see the Lakers getting back to .500 in the CCHA. 7 games left; they'd have to go at least 5-1-1. Just don't see it happening the way they are playing.

Bill, the way the Lakers are playing combined with their remaining schedule I would not be suprised if they don't win a game the rest of the season.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

You guys took two points from Western.... AT LAWSON... so far no one else has been able to match that... "It's" there, the lakers just need to find it again.
