Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

I think Murdock will get the start tonight based on last Saturday's performance. If he really good again tonight, he should get the nod again Saturday. If he off and gives up a soft goal, Kaps will be in tomorrow.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Nice win. Excellent goaltending and great defense. The suddenly efficient power-play and PK is making a big difference. Keep it up and the Lakers could get a win streak going.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

SUPER win........shutout.........2 for 3 on the PP........do it again tonight!!!

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Really nice, complete win. The PP appears to be coming into shape the last few weeks. Nice to see KK back and in good form.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

The boys looked great last night! The powerplay was clicking and goaltending was solid. Looking forward to tonight's game.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

They really need to win again tonight, otherwise they're just treading water. They have to start doing a better job of protecting home ice or they'll be finishing well down in the CCHA standings.

Finally a sweep and congrats to Bruneteau for his first career goal as a Laker. Too bad the break had to happen now.

That is the way you want to finish the first half of the season .

A very good weekend of hockey for LSSU. The goaltending and defense was outstanding, and the offense made the most of their chances. Getting Campbell back after the break with be a plus.

Thank you David. I would like your honest opinion on wilkins job for the weekend. I ask because I know you can give it unbiased.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Things looking up as we roll into the break.

The PP is much better. The goalie situation is incredibly sound. The young guys are chipping in with good strong shifts. The top two lines are creating good chances . . .

10-10 isn't an amazing record, its as good as we've had around here in a litle while, and it shows the team has a chance to put somthing together this season.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Buddy Robinson starting to come on strong is a big plus.

Lain being back and close to 100% has improved the PP so much. The difference with Lain, and without Lain, is clear to the eyes. I don't have numbers, but I "think" the PP is just so much better. At least they're finishing plays!

Now Union after the break. Not likely two very easy games.

Last year they made it to the Frozen Four with a very solid squad which won 26 games.
This year, are 5-1-3 on the road. While that includes AIC and UCONN, they also swept BGSU in Ohio. They are winless in their last four -- which includes back to back ties against Yale and Brown.

They were ranked 14th in the Dec. 10 poll. Today's poll might see them slip a little.

Either way, its a good weekend to pick up some much-needed PWR points for the Lakers. Union figures to be in the running for the ECAC title, and will likely be ranked in the Top-15 for most of the season.

At present, the Lakers have a poor 3-3 NC records against bottom-half-of-the-table Tech, Bemidji, and very-poor UAH. So scoring two wins over Union is very important, if the Lakers are to get soe PWR love in March.

I was not impressed. However, I don't think either team gained an advantage. There were some bad calls or non-calls both ways. The most preposterous was the interference call on Power right after the 10 minute misconduct against Lain. Yes a minor should have been added to Lain's penalty. Calling Power for INT before the puck hits the ice on the ensuing faceoff was a classic make up call. Two types of calls that bug me, one: blatant make ups like the one here on Power. The other is when one guy gives another a shot and there's no call, but when the opponent retaliates, they both go. If it is a penalty after the retaliation, why was it not called in the first place?

In response to Laker Blue, I really liked Robinson as a freshman last year and he is looking good this year as well. If you can keep him for four years and he continues to mature and improve, you've got something special there.

Thank you David for your honest input. I asked because in My opinion he sure seems to get in the way of a good game rivalry too boot.

Congratulations to Perfetto for getting CCHA Offensive Player of the Week. Also congrats to Kapalka for getting CCHA Goaltender of the Week!

Even though many have speculated about it as a possibility I was surprised that Roque flat out said that they expect Lain to go pro after this season....He must really be getting an awful lot of attention because he never said anything that bluntly about past early signees like Trotman or Perkovich even though the writing was clearly on the wall

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

The ccha has not been evaluating the ref's for 3 years and it shows. I hope the nWCHA will do a better job with it's evaluation process and weed out the terrible one's.
