Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Clubber Lang awaits us in Oxford.

Wish he was wrong.

I am hoping this is Balboa-Lang II . . . but we all have the fear that Mickey might be gasping for air and clutching his heart in the hall by the Laker locker-room, ala the wipe-out of Lang-Balboa I.

easy now, the Lakers swept in Oxford last year.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

I see us taking points, this team is too erratic by nature to play 4 bad games in a row lol

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Sounded like a great game for Kapalka.

Going into the season I didn't know what to expect from this team. If they could only put a full 60 minutes of not laying back they may have a decent finish to the season.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

when your defense gives up 24 shots in one period, you have major issues.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

HUGE win, this is the highest ranked opponent LSSU has taken down in the past 5+ years, and they did it on the road. Murdock pulls out the shutout stopping all 46 shots against the number 3 team in the country on their home ice, amazing. Not to take away from KK but if we had a must win game, i'd want KM between the pipes.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Not that good a weekend for the Roque haters out there. Any team in the nation, even BC or NH, would be ok with a 3-2 loss and a 1-0 win on the home ice of the #3 team in the nation. We've got two very good goalkeepers.

The Lakers powerplay is the best I've seen in college hockey. They move the puck D to D like a NHL team.

Yes, important win. It keeps them within shouting distance of getting back to .500 in the CCHA. They really need to sweep NMU next weekend at home because they open post-holiday CCHA play with another tough road series at WMU. Offense is still a big concern. You can't count on winning many 1-0 games.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Biggest win of the year by far last night. A sweep against NMU will put them back at .500 in CCHA play which they really need especially with a very tough January schedule.

Also the 1-0 win last night was the first time they won a game winning scoring just one goal (1-0) since February 11, 2000.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

You're right. Huge win. Not bad........playing at #3 and each team got three goals and three points. Lakers are 3-1 at Miami last season and this season. Let's continue the roll and get 6 from NMU. WMU will be tough to start the year. Ferris had them 1-0 with 4 minutes to go and the Broncos scored on 2 PPs to win 2-1 and sweep the weekend.

Perhaps a season-saving win? They were badly outshot by Miami. I don't know if the play mirrored the shot total. There has been some talk that the LSSU Power Play woke up, too. That would be a great news. A defense-first team MUST score PP goals.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

I'm going to be gone all evening. They are supposed to talk about next season's recruits on the Laker Hockey Show. If anyone listens to the show and hears anything of interest, please post it.

Congrats to Murdock for getting CCHA goaltender of the week again. I would be very surprised to NOT see him start Friday.
