Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Not a good pick for Lake State and not even a vote for either goalie to be on the WCHA all pre-season team.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

It doesn't surprise me they were picked to finish 7th. If they play like last year I would say 4th or 5th could be with in their reach. But I'm a half cup full kind of guy.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Whatever happened to the Norris center project ? 3dognight seems to have left and the 5 million seems to have left with him .

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Anchorage with a new coach and a hungry team could end up in front of Lake State before the season is over. Huntsville beat Lake State and with a new coach there, that even leaves open the chance they may finished higher than Lake State. Look at Lake States roster, there is nothing there to provide much hope for the season.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

It's a blow to confidence seeing how the coaches picked Lake State to finished ahead of two teams who had a combined total of 5 wins all last season at the Division 1 level.

You kept saying they should be picked 9th or 10th all offseason. You should be happy.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Pre-season polls are absolutely meaningless. It's just something for the media to do until the season actually starts. This isn't football, so the polls have no bearing here. The fact is that the Lakers haven't done anything in the last decade to make anyone believe that they're a top tier team. If the players are upset about being picked so low, then use that as fuel and prove everyone wrong. We've all watched college hockey long enough to know that anything can happen, and team step up and have great seasons out of the blue. The Lakers have solid upper-classmen on the blueline and in net. If the young forwards can help in scoring, you never know.

Nice outlook. Perhaps you should be a fan of a different team so you aren't so miserable.

The Lakers have to prove that they can compete for a full season before they get any pre season hoopla. MSU should be the favorite they had a **** good season last year. The Lakers MO is inconsistent levels of play over the last few years so noone can expect much more then what they have gotten.

The Mavs were generally pegged for 10th last year in the WCHA, and finished T4. As you noted, use it as fuel, or be quiet about it. But it seems a little early to give up on your team in September.

Sure Dopey. Just keep telling yourself Roque has been the best kept secret in college hockey and this is the year he shines.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

You people up there should be thrilled that Lake Superior got picked as high as 7th. The last 8 years has followed the same exact script under this coach...double digit losses, second half collapses, finishes in the bottom third of the standings, inconistant play from night to night, early playoff exits, dwindling attendance at the Norris Center, playoff crowds in the hundreds, and that is just on the ice, the list goes on. You people should know exactly what to expect this season. Despite the different and way inferior league, the same results will occur under this coach.

The Truth Is Out There....

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

What's the general excitement level among you posters concerning the start of the season in the new league? Mine is virtually nill...not just because my expectations are low but because of this new no name league we got bumped down to. I know this will upset some of you but I honestly feel that the nWCHA is on par with the Atlantic League and that is not a good thing.
