Wow! You can copy.

How does Matt Thomas compare to the other WCHA coaches salaries?
LakerBlue.............I dislike the term "incompetent" as it pertains to Scott Borek. Yes, thick headed, yes, stubborn, yes, a definite mismatch, but calling him "incompetent" is ignorant and misleading. Scott
tried to be somebody he wasn't out of the yultimate respect for his mentor, Jeff Jackson. He wasn't smart enoghto abandon a system that wasn't working. I agree with you that he didn't inherit an empty
cabinet. Oh contrair, there were numerous players who came to the Soo with impressive offensive backgrounds and the "system" ate them up. My son, Matt, for example had a very solid year offensively at
Kimball Union prep in New Hampshire and was relegated to banging the puck of the glass. He was petrified to join the rush, something he excelled at at KUA. Eventually the offense degenerated into dump & dig, then
three fowards cycling down low, many times with all three below the goal line and two D-men standing at the blue line. No offense? No surprise.
The salary and bonuses Matt Thomas gets in Anchorage will be roughly double what the LSSU gets. Thomas gets a $150,000 base and up to 50,000 more in incentives.
I understand everyone's concern about what the LSSU may be able to pay a coach. However, I still would like someone to tell me what Roque has done, over the last 8 years, to deserve an increase in pay. If he were in any other business and provided a loosing record or product he would be gone.
We will not know what LSSU is capable of paying until Roque is gone and his replacement is hired. I'm sure other programs needed to raise their salaries when they hired a new coach.

I haven't seen anyone say Roque deserves a raise. It's more like, "you get what you pay for." Take the lowest paid coach in the league and give him the smallest recruiting budget and why is anyone surprised this program has floundered for the last 20 years. Fund a last place team, you get a last place team. Duh. Now pay a good coach and good assistants and give them a competitive budget. Then we'll see what happens.
Lakerblue.................sorry to shake your branch!!!! I was referring toone of your posts, or at least I thought I was, when I referenced your choice of "incompetent". Was that not your post? I tried to find it, but
haven't been able to locate it. If you didn't use that word in referring to Scott Borek, please let me know and I'll retract & apologize on the board. I'm going to look again now..............
I noticed season tickets aren't on sale yet. They are ALWAYS on sale by this point. I guess interest in LSSU hockey has really waned the past couple years.
Even though most of us laid our hopes to rest on the Roque rumors weeks ago, the other shoe has finally dropped as Ron Rolston and the Sabres officially hired Joe Sacco to join Teppo Numminen as his assistant coach.

But are they done? They fired two assistant coaches and have hired one replacement. Not that I want to keep the Roque rumors going, but I wonder if they will still hire another assistant coach. Nothing in the link indicates that either way.Even though most of us laid our hopes to rest on the Roque rumors weeks ago, the other shoe has finally dropped as Ron Rolston and the Sabres officially hired Joe Sacco to join Teppo Numminen as his assistant coach.

We didn't fare too badly.
