LSSU hockey 2013-14

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Doug Weight is a true champion and role model for upcoming players. Whether or not he donates to the University is irrelevant, it doesn't change those facts. He doesn't need to pay money for people to look up to him. They already do through his actions.

It would be great if he made another donation to the program (see link below). I doubt a man of such class would allow his funds to be used to pay coaching salaries. He would probably expect his money to go where it should go: to the student-athletes.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

You seem to think no one at LSSU talks to Weight and that he hasn't or doesn't contribute. Who have you talked to in the LSSU athletic department? Or do you base your crap on message board banter and then assume?

As far as Roque, I've said he's hasn't won enough and a change would be good, but I do agree with davyd that change can only be effective if the new guy has the tools needed to win. Because changing the name on the coaches office means nothing if you don't make fundamental changes to the entire program. Hopefully 3DogNight and his group will provide some of the necessary funding.

See -- for example -- Tim Waters.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Roque using Ron Rolston (or him helping Roque out) to get a raise is the dumbest thing I have ever heard on this thread. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

This is Rolston's first NHL opportunity; he won't jeopardize it by hiring a man who is well known for having trouble dealing with players and administration wherever he has been.
Admitting he really feels a duty to help Roque out of LSSU, a scouting job or a video assistant would be the best Roque could get (and do well). I doubt it pays better than HC at lssu, and would Roque's ego accept it ?

Pulling strings is a skill Roque has. Suggesting that he launches rumors with something in mind makes absolute sense. At least it is the second time he is supposed to be offered a job, when he hasn't actually talked to anybody.

Aside from anonymous donators who have business objectives and expect good return on investment, pro players donate when they feel they owe the school and/or coach something. I agree Doug Weigh has shown enough gratitude, and this wouldn't be because of Roque.
They may be successful without having that feeling, or won't keep donating simply because the school/coach has funding problems (By the way, why do posters keep complaining since the anonymous donators guaranteed a top-tier budget ?).
A disliked coach won't get a lot of money ... anyone expecting Oleksy to donate ?

I highly doubt a guy who just got an NHL coaching job would undermine his own credibility within the organization by pulling such a stunt. Nor do I think Roque would risk throwing one of his best friends under the bus.

Are the donors unanimous or anonymous? What are the anonymous donors unanimous on?

Mrs. Pink Pony,
In your humble opinion is there any chance that this whole thing is Coach Rolston helping his old buddy out? Is there a chance that he allowed Coach Roque to leak interest by the Sabres to give him credibility with LSSU Administrators and fans? Possibly to renegotiate his contract? No one has posted any regret that he may leave. On the contrary, I sense that there would be deep dissappointment if he stays. I hope this is
sincere between Coach Roque and Coach Roston because if not, it has backfired as a PR ploy.

Coach
Put me in I want to play.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

I see that Pink Pony has once again deleted a bunch of his/her posts.

The Sabres assistant coaching positions should be announced any day now. I think it's been about 2 weeks since Rolston indicated he hoped to complete that process within a week, so it's already taken longer than he projected.

Isn't there another poster that regularly plays the post/delete game?

It will be nice to end this.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Yes Jim Roque is going to get a raise with the Buffalo Sabers according Davyd for $200,000 in Gwozs ballpark.
Really? Please show me where I said what Jim Roque would make if he were to take a job in Buffalo? Please refrain from putting words in for me. I'm quite capable of speaking for myself. The only comments regarding Jim Roque and salary that I have made would be in regards to his salary at LSSU.

You said you know four ACs in the NHL and the minimum they make is $200,000.

That is correct. I have know 4 individuals who are or have been assistants in the NHL. However, none of them is named Jim Roque and none works for the Buffalo Sabres. So please show where I have said that Roque is going to get $200,000 from the Sabres.
