Lowell @ UVM - Jan 11-12

Re: Lowell @ UVM - Jan 11-12

Interesting game. Very even play for much of it.

Lowell capitalized enough on the power play but UVM really took away our two-man advantages with multiple clears each time.

I think we got a couple gifts on the calls but most were legit. I hope they keep that up tomorrow :D.
I'll take the win but the Hawks got away with standing around in their own end for much of the 2nd and 3rd. They'll need to play much better tomorrow night. Hopefully everyone is ok. A lot of chippy stuff by UVM at the end of the game.

Re: Lowell @ UVM - Jan 11-12

So umm...?

Umm? Like I said, anything less then 4 points is inexcusable. UVM lost, it is inexcusable. Hoffman gave up a terrible short handed goal, a starting D-1 goalie needs to make those saves.

The defense did not have a good game, they gave Lowell way too much time in the offensive zone.

The officiating was horrendous, Keenen clearly thought he was reffing a women's game. The charging penalty against Brickely was bogus, and that led to a power play goal. Sure Brickley had a good head of steam, but thats not charging and Keenen called every big hit as a penalty. Ridiculous. That said, the Cats should have adjusted and backed off a bit when they saw the way the game was being reffed. That is also inexcusable.

The game was fast played, and UVM carried most of the 2nd and 3rd periods. A soft goal and some bad penalties cost them the win. Inexcusable.

Interesting. I did not get that impression but I was sitting on the glass and it's definitely a different perspective from there. I do think I prefer to be 8-10 rows up.

The officiating was horrendous
There it is. Thank you for embarrassing yourself once again, and showing you know absolutely nothing about hockey. Next time your mommy gives you a crack at computer time, try to say something that makes sense.

Re: Lowell @ UVM - Jan 11-12

Funny Pat you dont comment on these quotes by UML fans saying the same thing.
There's a difference between getting a few gifts and saying the refs were horrendous as an excuse for your team getting beat again on home ice. Vermont has two wins against Lowell in 11 meetings in the last four series. Clearly we are dealing with a program in the doldrums against one on the upswing. Make all the excuses you want, but Vermont has three league wins in 14 games. It's pathetic.

Re: Lowell @ UVM - Jan 11-12

Nice strategy. Don't say anything at the time, but keep it in the back of your mind. When the person's proven wrong, then get real bold and speak up. Cowardly.....
The comment was so plainly ludicrous that mocking it at the time seemed like a waste of energy. I can't spend my entire life dealing with his self-evident stupidity.

Standing around was probably not the right term, but they did spent to much time in their own zone after the first period. Only 8 shots after the first period.

The entire stuff from 8 min on in the third period was because of ONE single failed clearance.... guys, they all matter.

I've said time and time again that poor play in wins comes back to bite you in losses. It'd be nice if this team stopped thinking they've won the game every time they go up by one.

As for UVM, I don't think they're as devoid of talent as other UML posters suggest. I'm sure ill catch some flack for this, but they actually kind of remind me f the ''07-'08 'hawks team a bit, which wasn't talentless by any means.

I don't think they're devoid of talent by any means. I do think they're not as good as some of their posters think. The truth, as is often the case, is somewhere likely in the middle *shrugs*

They're certainly talented enough to beat us if we don't play our game to the best of our ability, and definitely had me nervous last night.

.

This always annoys me... Killer instinct isn't just the will to keep putting up goals but also the will to not allow any breathing room. It's about setting a tone that we will not allow you back in.

This team has no killer instinct seemingly. Frustrating as hell. Good win last night, but they really need to just put a team away.

Like by scoring twice in the third period of a one-goal road game?

Well, that's why I said seemingly. And putting a game away doesn't mean having to wait till the third period of a one-goal game. See the first game against Clarkson.

Re: Lowell @ UVM - Jan 11-12

1-0 Lowell after 1. Special teams again playing the key for Lowell, as the power play is 1-2 but even more importantly, their PK killed off a 1:38 5-on-3.
