LeBron: Discuss

Re: LeBron: Discuss

Wait, so Bird is on your list and LeBron isn't because he had players around him.

It's pointed out that Bird had a team full of HOFers.

You say, "That's my point."

I must be missing the logic in this.

I missed it too...

Re: LeBron: Discuss

My point is that some of the superfans of LeBron act like he won titles all by himself (I don't think you guys are saying that, btw). He didn't.

LeBron is probably (as in about) a top 20ish player of all time, IMO. I don't think he's top 10, for certain. That's not saying anything bad about his abilities, I just think there were better players out there.

(and I forgot about George Mikan; he was pretty darn good ;) , and I'd put him in the top 20)

Re: LeBron: Discuss

You are literally the only person on earth who thinks he's not even in the top 20. It's just colossally dumbfounding.

Bill Simmons, the guy who literally wrote the book on basketball, thinks he's near the top. He's smarter and more informed than all of us when it comes to basketball. Combined.

And that's the way I likes it!

He could be top 20. I said 20-ish, so give or take 2-3 places.

And on this earth? Really? Are you qualified to say that? Show your work. ;)

Now if I said he wasn't top 40, then ridicule me all you want.

Re: LeBron: Discuss

No, I'm going to ridicule you for your top 20 comment because it is so out of touch with reality and almost every actual authority on the matter would laugh at this notion.

Ok, then. *shrug* Have fun with that.

While I think I've already said my bit on LeBron, I'm just gonna point out that this is always a BS argument. Are you such a complete sheep that you get all of your movie opinions from the top critics, too? :p

Re: LeBron: Discuss

LeBron wouldn't be the 1st pick on my all time team, that goes to Russell, but he'd be the 2nd forward taken after Bird(SF) then James(PF).

How is it bs? I recognize him as an authority on the game and it's history. But you're right, ignore the experts!

If Mikan and LeBron played one on one Milan would lose 10 to nothing

Ah, the difficulty in comparing players/athletes from different eras! Roger Bannister was at one time the greatest miler in the world (first to run sub-4:00 mile for you youngsters). Now he'd be getting trounced by high school milers. Doesn't diminish his greatness to me.

This.

Let's see Babe Ruth go against Nolan Ryan or Randy Johnson. Or hell, put whatever O-line (pre-1980) you want versus a D-line from today. Let's see who wins that battle.

Re: LeBron: Discuss

Such a great team player... he's opting out of the next year of his contract so he can re-sign another one year deal. That will get him $3 million more this coming year but will also put Cleveland in a tougher position trying to resign a supporting cast around him.

Re: LeBron: Discuss

Someone posted the stats in a meme of sorts, showing Larry Bird's numbers at 30 years old, and the same for Lebron James. Bird had James beat in every single category.
