The NCAA doesn't get enough money from that stupid basketball thing to maybe bump the DIII budget from 3% to 4%? The few bucks that would involve would hardly be missed.

$1800 is the "participation fee"? That's walking-around money for many of these filthy-rich private schools, FCS... About what it costs for attending UC for two weeks.

$1,800 is currently the DI fee - DIII appears to be $900.

Division I schools currently pay $1,800 in annual dues and several Presidents Council members noted that figure could serve as a potential benchmark for an increase. Doubling the annual dues — which are paid by the roughly 450 Division III institutions ($900) and 43 conferences ($450) — could increase divisional revenue by nearly $500,000 annually. That additional revenue could offset the anticipated future increases in travel costs and provide additional funding that also could make initiatives unrelated to championships, such as conference grants, more robust.

They need two more SUNYAC schools for the SUNYAC to take over women's hockey for their members.

Currently five SUNYAC schools play women's hockey. They need seven. Otherwise, they won't do it without that automatic bid as the schools will be better off staying in the ECAC West.

There are currently five SUNYAC schools with a team in the ECAC west. (Plattsburgh, Oswego, Buffalo State, Cortland and Potsdam) The new ECAC North Atlantic division as two teams from SUNYAC schools. (Canton, and Morrisville) Three SUNYAC schools have men's teams ; but no women's teams. ( Geneseo, Brockport, and Fredonia) Considering the rapid growth of women's hockey the creation of a all Sunyac league seems possible in the future. I can see Geneseo and Brockport filling the void in the Rochester area that R.I.T. vacated when they went to a D1 program

Just a clarification: We still have no official announcement that SUNY Canton is joining the SUNYAC, and technically Morrisville is not a full SUNYAC member (they are associate members for Men's hockey and Women's field hockey only, and are only allowed to do so because field hockey needs the sacrificial lamb that is Morrsiville to have the 7 teams required for an AQ). Lots of SUNY schools are not in the SUNYAC, so it's best not to confuse SUNY and SUNYAC
