Lebanon Valley returning to NCAA varsity in 2016-17!

Re: Lebanon Valley returning to NCAA varsity in 2016-17!

Hey, wouldn't it be cool if Binghamton brought their team back too? I know they're Div I now, but this is nostalgia we're talking here!

Well, heck, in that case why don't we bring back the University of Buffalo team...?

That's the spirit!!!!:D Any other folded franchises we're leaving out? We haven't had a good no class discussion this year that I can recall!

North Adams State.....but the school has changed names so even that would be different !

Re: Lebanon Valley returning to NCAA varsity in 2016-17!

Anyone mention St. Bonaventure yet? They were once a ECAC-W team...I think they now just have a club team.

When St. Bonny was in the ECAC West (before Scranton), Binghamton was in the SUNYAC. It was always a contest to see which conference had the worst bottom dweller.

BTW, let's not forget Villanova, who was in the ECAC West at one time. And of course Iona, while we are also mentioning D1 schools who played down in hockey when that was allowed, and then dumped their programs when they were forced to actually play at the D1 level.

Keene State, Hawthorne, Upsala, Roger Williams, Benedictine, to name a few more...

I remember being at an Elmira/Scranton game a long long time ago and the Soaring Eagles winning 20-0 with their third string goalie at the time (Musa) being in net. I think Musa went on to become the starter later in his career, but still.

I think it was around 1990 the first time Binghamton came to the Domes on a Sunday afternoon. They came in one of those large vans and only had 13 or 14 players. After the 2nd period Glenn gave his top two lines the rest of the day off and the players sat up in the stands.

I'm so old I played against teams like New Haven, North Adams and the first Westfield team. Let's not forget Bridgewater State, Ithaca, New Hampshire College and Boston State. The worst team I ever saw was the first edition of the Fredonia Blue Devils in 1987. They were 0-23 and could've been worse.....had they scheduled more games !

Binghamton actually cancelled their program just before the season started when not enough players showed up for tryouts. I kid you not.

"Recruiting" was obviously a foreign word for Binghamton...

Didn't they go "O-fer" 2 or 3 seasons in a row before they folded?
