Lebanon Valley - Coaching Change

Re: Lebanon Valley - Coaching Change

Congrats to LVC for taking Neumann to overtime last night. To me, this is a HUGE Moral victory and something to build on.

I think they've been having moral victories all season.

Look at the scores. The Dutchmen have been MUCH more competitive in games this year, especially against the teams that were blowing them out of the water last year.

Yes, they haven't seen the results and some W's yet, and I'm sure its still frustrating for LVC but I really hope they keep this program around because they are improving and if they have a hockey team next year, they can build off of this year and hopefully get some W's next year.

Yes, Prez....lets hope they get some W's next year and not next week.
Moral victories are the only thing we want them leaving the Aud with. LVC is 0-10 at the Aud, including 2 games when they were still (2001-2002 & 2003-2004) in ECAC-NE.
Fun Fact: Utica won their first ever game at the Utica Aud on Nov. 12, 2001, 3-1 against LVC. LVC went 23-4-1 that year, reaching the ECAC-NE championships.

You had better have your fingers crossed.;) I have a strong feeling that LVC could steal one away from either Utica or Hobart before the season is over.

LVC dropped their first two games that year, but went on to an 18 game unbeaten streak (including a 5-1 win against Utica at Hershey Park). Hopefully they can get their first win at the Aud this weekend.

LVC Names Tony Horacek Head Coach of Ice Hockey -

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College has named former NHL and AHL player Tony Horacek as its next head coach of men's ice hockey.

Horacek, an experienced professional, juniors, and high school coach, is a familiar name to midstate hockey fans after spending part of his professional playing career with the Philadelphia Flyers and the Hershey Bears, as well as time in the Chicago Blackhawks organization.

Lebanon Valley will move from NCAA Division III to the American Collegiate Hockey Association for the 2010-11 season, with the program having formally applied for ACHA Division I classification.

....

Note this also from JoeCCT.

Nice map of where the ACHA plays: http://www.batchgeo.com/map/567cd8d90548fac084eb952e17815eb2

If you click on the individual pins, you can restrict your selection. They have LVC as an ACHA-1 member.

I love the fact that the ACHA landscape of New England is almost exclusively M2 (URI being the only M1). I Know UNE was M1 before going to DIII... I think I see why they joined DIII

Re: Lebanon Valley - Coaching Change

I'm confused by the map. It shows Castelton, Norwich, & Lyndon St as M2 members and UVM as W2 in the state of Vermont. Does this mean that they are dual members? Or does it mean something totally different.

It means that there are club programs that operate independently of the varsity programs.

NU has had a club team for the last couple of years - it seems to consist of kids who played in HS or low level juniors and wanted to continue to play competitively.

As long as you can field a team, you could theoretically field 7 hockey teams.

NCAA Men
ACHA M1 (M=Men)
ACHA M2
ACHA M3
NCAA Women
ACHA W1 (W=Women
ACHA W2

There's no ACHA rule against multiple teams. I believe Adrian fielded M1, M2, M3, and W1 before it shifted all its teams up to include NCAA DIII in both genders. Adrian is also one of those schools whose Athletics Department directly oversees its ACHA teams. For some schools, this effectively creates Varsity teams in M1, M2, and W1. (M3 and W2 have slighty more restrictive rules, and so I don't believe any schools operate Varsity teams on this level).

As long as you can field a team, you could theoretically field 100 hockey teams.

1 x NCAA Men
1 x ACHA M1 (M=Men)
34 x ACHA M2
1 x ACHA M3
NCAA Women
30 x ACHA W1 (W=Women
30 x ACHA W2

Fixed it for ya

ACHA has no limits on how many teams a school fields. Just the levels at which they can play.

Robert Morris - Chicago has 5 teams

1 ACHA M1
2 ACHA M2
1 ACHA M3
1 ACHA W1

Now that I look back upon it, this is true. However... MATH FAIL!

1+1+34+1+1+30+30=98
:D

Re: Lebanon Valley - Coaching Change

I had it as 1+1+94+1+1+1+1 but decided to unsuccessfully move 30 teams to each ACHA women’s level.

Re: Lebanon Valley - Coaching Change

ACHA National Meeting this weekend in Naples, 193 ACHA representatives have RSVP'ed as attending none of them representing Lebanon Valley.

Though that would support their whole saving money idea.
