Latest pairwise rankings

Current Pairwise...

The Big Ten has Minnesota at #1, Michigan #4, Penn State #8, Ohio State #9, Notre Dame #14, Michigan State #19, and Wisconsin #32. The average Pairwise position of those seven teams is 12.4.

The NCHC has Denver at #3, St. Cloud State #5, Western Michigan #10, Nebraska-Omaha #16, North Dakota #21, Minnesota-Duluth #26, Colorado College #38, and Miami-Ohio #43. The average Pairwise position of those eight teams is 20.25.

Anybody out there STILL stubborn enough to insist the NCHC is better than the Big Ten?

God you are a broken record.

Didn't you already ask this question? No league is better permanently. Hockey East has fallen off a bit. Just because the Big Ten is the best conference right now means very little. Let's see if Minnesota can finish the deal. Were you just waiting years so you could finally post this?

Well, if you don't like it you can blame all of the NCHC zealots for spending the better part of the last 10 years badmouthing the Big Ten. If not for all of those obnoxious blowhards, I wouldn't have had anything to respond to.

Lol. The NCHC dominates for the better part of 10 years & you are stubborn enough to insist one good year makes the B1G the best conference? You are delusional.

First of all, you can't compare the average of the top 7 to the average of the top 8. That automatically skews the average in your favor.

The NCHC top 7 average 17.0. A considerably smaller gap.

Second, give it a rest.

You realize you are working against yourself. You want everyone to see the "greatness" that is the B1G. Now, most people want to see the B1G fall at the hand of the NCHC so they can rub your nose in it.

I just wish you would be smarter, wittier, and have a slight grasp of reality/history to realize how foolish your arguments are.

To date the B1G has won NOTHING that matters! The NCHC leads all leagues in every category that matters over the last 10 years. No CCHA fan likes to admit this, but only and idiot denies data.

Fair enough, if you can eliminate your weakest link we can eliminate ours. Minus Wisconsin, the average Pairwise position for the other six Big Ten schools is 9.1.

Oh, so it's perfectly okay for the NCHC zealots to run their big mouths when the Big Ten is down but, now that the shoe is on the other foot, I'm out of line for coming back and making them eat the crow they earned? Hell no!

"College Hockey's New Dynasty!"

I just came here to say that one of my favorite Frozen Four memories was DC in 2009. End of championship game, guy near me yells at Miami of Ohio fan to sit down. Fan turns around and yells, "my team's about to win their first national championship!". Needless to say, that didn't turn out so great for the Miami fan. A little extra schadenfreude for me as I still have some hatred of Rico Blasi and his teams.

The "historic blueblood" with an all time record under .500. Man, they disappeared around here pretty quickly when their little run ended. There was one holdout a couple of years ago talking about how beautiful the women were and how elite their academics are (USNWR #105). He really thought the place was some hybrid of the University of Chicago and the Playboy Mansion, but he sulked away when nobody would buy into his crap.

The non-hockey Miami fans still think they have the best everything. They aren't afraid to tell anyone they should be considered an Ivy school.

I think it's the "rich kid's safety school" mentality. They spend their lives trying to convince everyone (and deep down themselves) that Miami of Ohio is really just as good as the schools they didn't get into. For Christ's sake, it's the second best public school (by a large margin #49 to #105) in its own state and is probably 6th or 7th in the state when you factor in Case, Kenyon, Oberlin, Denison and maybe one other private.

And the crazy thing is that whole "public ivy" (whatever the hell that is) stems from a single, completely subjective (no metrics, just the opinion of one man) book 40 years ago. Even then, they and Vermont were included over far better choices like Wisconsin or Washington to gin up a little controversy. Yet, if you go to the school's website, they have whole pages devoted to it. It's a weird, weird place.

My first impression of Oxford, OH after hearing how awesome/amazing/beautiful everything is. I looked at my friend and we just laughed. The campus has nice buildings and looks nice, but the town is a total and complete dump. Yes they are trying to make it look nicer, but...

I'm connected with the Ohio State Foundation's Chicago office and have had professional relationships with a couple of members of the BoT. I'll tell you from our data that when an Ohio kid is accepted to both OSU and MofO and ends up at one of the two schools, 90% of the time, it's OSU. Miami of Ohio gets the children of alumni and some conservative, preppy kids who want to join a frat and major in business while being surrounded entirely by other preppy, greek business majors.
