Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

I thought they were going to be a middle of the pack team this year. After the first few games this season every thing looked fine to me and all of a sudden who knows whats going on. Go Lakers !!!

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

It's the same Laker team it has been the last 4 years. They scored zero last night. One goal last Saturday on 42 shots. They can"t win in overtime and never win the joke of a so called shoot-out.

The Lakers could bring in a guy who scored 500 goals with his Junior team and that same guy would struggle to score 5 goals all season at the college level.

Is it coaching? who knows. Is it just players who have limited talent? who knows. The only thing we probably do know is where Lake State will finished if an answer isn't discovered and discovered by the time Alaska pulls into town next Friday.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Last night was abysmal. I almost had to turn it off, but elected to listen to the end. Hope tonight it better. My hopes were really up after the first few games of the season ... but now they seem to be going in the direction of a downward spiral ...

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

I'm not so sure because lately the possitive spin has been the pp & pk, and last night did not look good statisticly for either.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

I was finally able to listen to the online feed down here once I got it to work by the second period. Things don't look good for the Lakers right now and how much longer are people going to come out and support an 11th place team? Things were starting to turn around about 5 or 6 years ago, now they seem to be regressing. I don't think even the new announcers could have put a positive spin on last nights game, but I am sure would have anyway.

Yeah, it would have been so much better to have Francis Anzalaone call the game. Nothing like giving a microphone to a kid who is bitter over the fact the University gave his dad the boot.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Northern bumped off Notre Dame 3-2 earlier this evening, so that puts the Lakers in last place. They need a win tonight to move back out of the cellar.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Nice job by our Lakers tonight. Let's hope they have some momentum heading into next weekend. THey'll need it for sure.

MacVoy has to get going. He should have more than just two goals for the season.

Anybody know why YES FM didn't make the trip? Budget troubles? I didn't really care for the UNO guys.

Doesn't MacVoy lead the team in points? Or is it assists? I think he's doing okay ... but a few more goals would be nice.

Paul VanWaggoner had a prior commitment and could not make the trip. It seems to me that we've listened to the UNO announcers in the past when Crawford couldn't make the trip. Or was it Alaska? I know I've heard both ... but I've been listening for so many years ... they start to run together after awhile!

MacVoy is tied with Nehring for the Lakers scoring lead with 10 points, which is good, but yes we do need him to start scoring a few more goals. It was good to see Schofield and Acton get goals tonight. Those two guys and MacVoy need to have good goal scoring seasons for the Lakers to give them a shot at a decent finish in the CCHA standings.

Don't know why the Lakers broadcasters didn't make the trip. It's almost always hard to get a feel for how your team is playing when you have to listen to your opponent's announcers.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Oops! Forgot to mention that I am VERY happy with the Laker win! Nice to see after Friday night's game. Keep up the momentum LAKERS!!!

Bill C usually made the UNO trip. He didn't do the Alaska trips.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

I knew that it had been awhile since LSSU had won in Omaha, so I looked it up, and tonight was the first win in Omaha for LSSU since December 9th 2004.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Good win last night and the Lakers discovered they can play 60 minutes of hockey and come out the winners.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Ferris and Miami went 11 rounds in the shoot out to declare a winner. I hope the coaches were allowed to take shots and be part of the circus.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Good win for the Lakers. It was nice to see them come fireing right out of the gate, if they could only bottle that.

I would love to see Scrymgeour start lighting the lamp he is realy hustleing out there.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

Let's not forget the win last night came against the #11 team in the country.

The Saturday loss against then-#5 Michigan a few weekends ago was a very winnable game for the Lakers. And now a win against another ranked team shows this team is close to competing with anyone on a nightly basis; they just need to play for sixty minutes, as was mentioned earlier.

The upcoming Alaska series at home is huge. Two wins in regulation time would equal six points, and most likely put the Lakers right back into the thick of things. Huge series for November.

Wasn't this a big selling point when they were bidding for the business? I don't trust my memory but I don't remember taking a feed from UNO before. Taking a feed from Fairbanks is basically a business decision by the station.... cost vs. how many people are listening at 11 pm. Besides, their play by play guy Bruce is fun to listen to. He a bit of a homer......in a nice way.....and he talks to the fans in the Sault a little.

Re: Laker Hockey 2009-10

I know in the past when Crawford was doing the games they always went to Nebraska. Don't know what previous commitment means but I felt that Nebraska's announcer did a good job. I will agree that he is a homer but any more than our guy? The game I listened to the Nebraska guy was actually a bit critical of some of the things the Nebraska team was doing. Might have heard that last year about the Lakers, not so sure about right now. More rah rah than anything else. Wouldn't not have heard that in the past years with Crawford, Bell, and Francis Anzalone.

Mrs. Anzalaone, I'm sure Francis is thrilled you put him in the same company as John Bell :p
