Kendall Classic: UAA, Quinnipiac, UA_, Air Force?

Re: Kendall Classic: UAA, Quinnipiac, UA_, Air Force?

The lower bowl was pretty empty on the opposite side for being "sold out". It was also pretty disgusting to see SMG and UAA staff trying to kick people out. One guy and his son were bullied by five staff members because he didn't want to sit in the row 1 seat behind the announcers where he wouldn't have been able to see a thing, so he went up to row 10 in a section that was pretty well occupied and got swarmed by five different staff members and one UAA lady that tried to sweet talk him out of his seat. It's nonsense. They need to find a compromise that allows balcony general admission tickets in at least some sections. Right now there are no unobstructed seats in the house. Also, for the same seat in the balcony - UAA ticket $28.80; Aces ticket $17.70. THIS is why they can't get butts in seats. However, keep swarming people with staff for sitting where a guy and his son can actually see the game. That's quality customer service right there! People were ****ed off where I was sitting.

Get over it. Your the one who whined and *****ed the whole time about UAA not doing anything and when they do something you whine

Sweet agenda you got there bro. Is every post you're going to make be like this? Ehrmergerd! I can't sit in the balcony! My rights are being violated! You make it sound like some civil rights violation!

Listen, the confining of people to the lower bowl seats has to happen. It is simply better for the games. It's not easy to enforce this and, yeah, it's not going to be super polite at times. Also that ticket price is for the Kendall Classic, so it naturally goes up, check it again for a regular season game.

Re: Kendall Classic: UAA, Quinnipiac, UA_, Air Force?

No, that ticket price was for the game against Alabama-Huntsville in November. You're right, I should never complain. If I disagree with something, I should just shut up and do what I'm told. Sit where I'm told to sit, say what I'm told to say and forget that I own this public university, not them.

Maybe you should just go to the Aces games then, huh? I sit in the balcony and I saw what was going on, and I certainly didn't see anything like what you are describing. You wanted big changes, and they have made big changes. Now just enjoy the positive vibes everyone else is feeling - ok?

I do think that SMG needs to be more organized. They also should have a sign at the bottom of the stairs telling people when they can and can't sit up in the balcony. Mike, did you buy general admission tickets, or did you have an actual seat assigned to you?

As far as the actual hockey goes - I am very impressed with this new coach. The passing last night was the best I've ever seen from a UAA team. (Tonight's passing wasn't great, but they got it done when it mattered) I am really impressed with all of our goaltending options. I wanted them to go with Gunderson again tonight, but Matyas did great and I was glad to see him have such a great game and play so well at the end when the pressure was on. This is a much better team than people think and I think they can do some serious damage in the new watered down WCHA.

You have a right to your opinion, but you are being extremely negative right now when everyone else is positive. Change isn't easy, but this is the best thing for UAA hockey right now. They will be opening up the balcony as the lower bowl gets full, as you saw tonight. Obviously there are some kinks to get worked out.

Most expensive ticket price for UAA vs UAH is $25.30. So you're wrong.

It's that you're just being petulant about it. Maybe if you realized that this is the first weekend of this and showed a little patience, people wouldn't react this way. Instead of offering measured, constructive criticism you went " Ehrmergerd dis sucks sooooooo bad!!!1!!11!" and people have reacted accordingly.

tl;dr Keep calm and don't act like a d-bag.

Re: Kendall Classic: UAA, Quinnipiac, UA_, Air Force?

Suze - #1 I've been going to UAA games for 30 years. I've earned a right to my opinion, even if it disagrees with that of administrators that lived in different states when I was climbing the balcony of the Sully.

#2. I have photos and video of what you refused to see.

#3. I paid $28.80 for the seat that was assigned to me, and I sat in it, even though I had an obstructed view (Like everyone else in the arena)

All I'm saying is that there should be some general admission upper balcony seats available and that if they want to get butts in seats, making it cost more than $100 just for admission for a couple (before the $5 soda) probably isn't the best way to go, especially after you take seating options away.

Jimjames tell me where to send it and I'll email you the photo of my receipt. . . .

You seem to be very passionate about UAA hockey. Maybe you could ask UAA if there are any seats still available in the balcony and get season tickets. Then you wouldn't have to worry about this every time you go to a game. Just throwing that out there. It may ease your frustration level significantly!

Also, we aren't going to get butts in seats until the atmosphere improves, and that is what is happening right now with these changes. A Sully employee told me that as soon as it was in the paper that UAA won the Friday game, people started buying tickets for tonights game.

They didn't "open up the balcony" people refused to leave and they didn't drag them out. (which is too bad, because it would have been great video) I watched them run people off during the first game and attempt to run them off before the second game but people refused to leave, so they finally gave up. I have the photos of SMG staff swarming people.

Re: Kendall Classic: UAA, Quinnipiac, UA_, Air Force?

Suze, they've outlawed the seats that I've sat in for decades.

Someone who sits by us works for SMG (administration) and she said they opened the balcony because the lower bowl was nearly sold out. It didn't look like it to me, especially on the south side, but some of those seats may have been corporate seats that weren't filled.

Whomever that was is full of it, because I have photos of them trying to run people off and failing. UAA Staff even came up and tried to convince people to go back to the seats where they couldn't see the game and gave up, and then they just gave up and people came up and filled in seats where they could actually see the game. The lower bowl was nowhere near filled. That opposite side was pretty empty. I got a pretty good photo of that too.

That's unfortunate. We are all making sacrifices. For 23 years I sat next to the same people, I made some wonderful friends at the UAA games, but I only know where two of them sit now. Was I crazy about that? Nope, but I accept it because the atmosphere is already so much better. But you know what, we're making new friends. :)

Well, I'd like to be able to see the whole ice, especially if I'm paying more than $50 for the weekend. I guess that's too much to ask. . . .
