It's Time for College Hockey to Leave the NCAA

Re: It's Time for College Hockey to Leave the NCAA

What? So you understand the purpose of the parenthetical, but you don't understand why someone would be annoyed when that parenthetical was appended to the verbalization of their name? Really? Do you want to concede now that you thought you'd get away with a quick snide remark, didn't think anyone would call you on it, and now you're stuck? Do you want real world examples of why your feigned ignorance of the difference won't fly?

Are we playing that game from Whose Line is it anyway where everything must be in the form of a question?

Re: It's Time for College Hockey to Leave the NCAA

If college hockey would ever leave the NCAA and another organization ran college hockey would that mean the Sioux would have zero championships, since ALL the sioux championships were won while being in the NCAA? The Gophers won two National Championships prior to the NCAA but those championships are not recognized because they were not won in the NCAA.

Everyone will have to start from scratch with zero "Klondike Bar" National Championships.

also, once the Fighting Sioux change their name, they will have zero championships as the "fighting flickertails" or whatever new name they pick.

What's the fauna situation in North Dakota like? If appropriate, I think they should take the Q's old "moniker", The North Dakota Fighting Deer Ticks.

Gee, what this thread needs is SIM to bring things back into perspective.

I'd still like him to answer my initial question. Show me a sport where this has happened. Or a significant sport (NOT a club sports) where an NCAA school has a non-NCAA sport.

Re: It's Time for College Hockey to Leave the NCAA

College hockey will benefit if it leaves the NCAA and merges with junior hockey. The recruiting raids will disappear, recruiting violations will disappear, and the cash will roll in. It's nice to see this realization is finally beginning to sink in among college hockey fans.

I will bet you within 10 years this never happens? In fact does anybody want to bet me this never happens in our lifetime?

Re: It's Time for College Hockey to Leave the NCAA

Besides merger with junior hockey what other viable options are open if college hockey leaves the NCAA? Please provide specifics, if you have any. The denials of a college-junior pro merger lack the vituperation and self-assured denials of the very recent past. I didn't start this thread. Only last year any suggestion of college hockey leaving the NCAA would have been greeted with contempt and cheetos.

Re: It's Time for College Hockey to Leave the NCAA

Merging with juniors isn't a viable option, and college hockey won't be leaving the NCAA.
