Iran So Far Away: 2026

Even a substantial minority of Freepers are bemoaning that Trump and the US lost, lol.
So, uh, when was it that the "losing" side of a negotiation is able to have the agreement written in their language?

So he has no idea what he signed. The Iranians have a chance to do the funniest thing....

One could only hope...

It's only a matter of time before someone out there in the diplomatic space realizes who they are dealing with and they try something like that... It's just a question if it will be Trump's Billionaire handlers, or someone nefarious like North Korea, or Poots.

Even were it written in English he'd have no idea what he signed.

The miltary specification for any piece of equipment, from a fuel cap to a nuclear bomber, includes 4 sections:

1. Introduction
2. References
3. Requirements
4. Verification

Noobs page to section 3 and start reading the requirements. Pros skip straight to section 4. It doesn't matter what the requirements *say* - what matters is what you actually have to *do* to pass the test.

Forget the agreement - show me the verification methods and I'll tell you whether we have a treaty or a smokescreen.

Sorry to be That Guy, but, as in every modern case, all documents are translated into the languages of all signatories.

For instance, the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer was signed in the 28 languages of its nearly 200 signatories.

Actually, I appreciate the clarification. While I mostly posted that to take a parade lap of enjoyment, I did also question if there was a more grounded reason.

The entire optics are still fuckin' hilarious though.

Even if you take what he says at face value, he just admitted that he signed that agreement in bad faith and is just waiting for an excuse to either break it or just wait the 60 days and start fighting again.

America's word is eternally debased. Even when he's gone, everybody knows we are never more than 4 years from putting another one in place.

In a democracy, we are responsible for our government's actions. We are still the sovereign. And we are now exposed as vain, cruel, stupid, and duplicitous.

Dump is the strongest argument against democracy since Aristotle.
