When does LA start boycotting the power? Aren't they boycotting Arizona? Or are they just all bluster and no bark?

Sorry. LA is joint owner of the plants generating that power. "As such, nothing in the City’s resolution is inconsistent with our continuing to receive power from those LADWP-owned assets." LADWP General Manager Austin Beutner.

I don't know about around the country, but here in Arizona that's not the case. Every report I've seen has said that the majority of law enforcement support the bill. I doubt our police chiefs are radically different than those elsewhere.

What about banning ethnic education is productive? No, not banning revolutionary education...but banning ethnic education?

This IMO is doubling down on stupidity...as conservatives will pay the price at the polls for no benefit.

Think about that deeper... this is offensive to me in general because programs designed primarily for pupils of a particular ethnic group is racist on its base. I'm actually shocked that you're trying to defend this.

We can teach spanish culture... we can teach the spanish language... you just can't design the course towards specific groups.

Support appears pretty soft from police both around the country and in AZ.

Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police

“The provisions of the bill remain problematic and will negatively affect the ability of law enforcement agencies across the state to fulfill their many responsibilities in a timely manner. While AACOP recognizes immigration as a significant issue in Arizona, we remain strong in our belief that it is an issue most appropriately addressed at the federal level.”

...and a list of other AZ chiefs taking a stand which is pretty gutsy in the state at this point:

You really don't know much about what's going on in Arizona do you? A few police chiefs are going against it for political purposes, but the rank-and-file is solidly supportive. Go look at the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association website: http://www.azplea.com/ or the Arizona Police Association website: http://www.azpolice.org./. They both tout their support of 1070.


And on the APA website, how creepy is that add they are showing put in the AZ Republic by the Sonoran Tourist Association? Some Mexican guy in the bushes looking for Arizonans with fatigues, face paint, etc.? :eek:

I don't know about the Arizona folks but I have seen a number of police chiefs from various cities over the last few weeks that are uncomfortable with the law.

Ya know if this was an issue like how in Texas they want to take the word "slavery" out of textbooks that would be one thing (they doubled down on stupid after splitting 10's) but taking away a curriculum that is targeted for only one ethnic group that caters to said group and is at best questionable on its base...that isn't an issue.

Now, if they want to set up a class like that and make it for everyone, targeted to everyone then there is no issue. But if I make a class called "Dave's Class" and only allow people named Dave to take it guess what, that is discrimination.

There would be no issue here if the other AZ law hadn't come around. The timing above all else is killing this.
