Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

It sounds like the border patrol is everywhere. I'm very impressed with the job they're doing. And they're sending another $600 million down there. Definitely not the 'where's the border patrol' situation many are complaining about.

I suggest someday taking off your rose-colored glasses.

Hey, let me ask you. Have you ever been on the Arizona border?
Have you ever talked to someone who has lived on or been on the Arizona border?
Have you talked to people who work for the border patrol on the Arizona border?

Not specifically to the issue at hand, but it is related (border security):

Yah, I've read stuff like this before. Of course at least these are supposedly stray bullets, rather than the bullets that are purposely sent across the border on occasion or the bullets that were threatened to be sent across the border at police officers here in Arizona if they continue to meddle in the drug cartels' activities in southern Arizona.

Nope...but I read first hand reports handpicked by you. And the patrols effort appears pretty impressive today. What are likely some of the worst places on the border don't appear to be significantly safer than Americas cities...but with $600 million more on the way, how much money do you have to pump in there to make it any safer?

Glad to confirm you don't have any first hand knowledge. The way you talk, I'd think you lived in Ajo or something. But, hey, I've just lived in this state for over 20 years and have first-hand knowledge in all the areas you admit you have none. But continue educating me on how things are on the border.

I think you need to stop complaining, acquire some firepower, and take the law into your own hands. That's what a real conservative would do. :D :p

We've missed you! :p

Now, go ahead and keep promoting a porous border.

At no time have I ever said that there are security concerns at the border.

On the other hand, I have always said that your complaining about the government doing nothing has been waay over stated. All the numbers I've stated over the last month and evidence in your article say the government is actually taking action at record levels.

And any possibility that you could hope to have any credibility on this subject just went out the window.

Quite frankly, attitudes like yours are just plain insulting to people who live in the border area, like the lady in the article I just referenced. I believe Robert Krentz, a longtime border rancher who was murdered by the drug cartels, would disagree with you even more strongly than I do. But he can't of course.

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Funny article about a couple Rachel Maddow operatives who supposedly checked out the border, but apparently spent most of their time in Tucson bars before reporting back that SB1070 wasn't needed after having seen border conditions. This is what passes for journalism in this country.

http://tucsoncitizen.com/tc-off-topic/2010/08/23/a-closer-look-at-the-rachel-maddow-show-visit-to-the-arizona-mexico-border/

And on a side note, that's pretty crazy that they built a drug smuggling tunnel right underneath a lane of the border crossing station! Seems like there'd be a better spot for it, though those areas are so riddled with drug tunnels, maybe they had run out of better spots.

Hey I'm all for it. As long as everybody stays in Arizona, what's the problem? Working as a "mule" is probably the only growth industry in that state nowadays since the speculative housing market burst.

Have you put in an application? They'd appreciate having you given your tacit support for their activities!

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Bob: There's security problems at the border. The US government is doing nothing.

Me: Sorry Bob, there is plenty of numbers that say that the US govt is doing plenty. Your assessment of the govt is wrong.

Bob: How would you know that the security is fine. You know you don't live on the border?

Me: Bob never said security was fine...did say that there is evidence that the govt is taking plenty of action, including lots of resources and record results.

Bob: But they just found a body there.

Me: Bob...I didn't say anything about security. I said that the govt is taking record actions.

Bob: Your wrong..I hear that there's crime there.

Thank you for explaining to me the simplistic terms in which you understand things. I'll try to talk simpler to help you out on this, as I can now see that I've been talking in way too much detail for you to grasp.

How about this:
Killling Arizonans bad.
Drug cartels taking over parts of Arizona bad.
Federal government declaring large parts of southern Arizona unsafe bad.
Federal government not paying bills bad.
ICE union unanimously calling out Obama on border security sign things are bad.

No thanks. I've already got a well paying job that I don't need to worry about getting shot while doing. You however would be perfect for the job as they'd never expect an old white guy to be involved in such an insidious practice.

Ah, they've probably seen my postings on this board and consider me persona non grata. You on the other hand I expect they'd openly embrace.

Why would I want to take a job away from the millions of unemployed construction workers, real estate agents, interior decorators, landscapers, etc who are SOL in your state for the next 30 years until all overbuilt properties are finally occupied? Even I wouldn't be so cruel. :)

Most of them have left, as they were here illegally. Probably some of them are in your state now! So if you came down here and lended the cartels a hand, it'd free up a job for one of them who has migrated to your state.

Then why are you still whining out here on a daily basis?

I've got a better idea for you and your state. To make up for lost and not coming back tax revenue from speculative housing, you should instead legalize drugs and institute a series of toll booths on major highways. Only, instead of charging by the axle like most places, you can charge by the kilo! Think of the revenue? In six months time not only will the budget be balanced, but with the drug activity in your state soon enough you'll have enough money to join the G20. In fact, if you place the tolls throughout the state and not just on the border, you can capture all that intrastate distribution traffic that comes from being the crystal meth capital of America (provided said people use the highways to transport their 'product' instead of the back roads).

Are you on board? :D

I'll give you credit. You're innovative.
