Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Now there's commitment from Obama. The new National Guard troops have just arrived on the border in the last month or so after taking time to get training, etc., and now Obama is going to pull them out come February. Must be because Janet told him that the border has never been more secured.

Obama must need more funds to ramp up his attack on Arizona.

But, hey, Sheriff Joe recently swore in Steven Seagal, Lou Ferrigno, and Peter Lupus, among others, as members of his posse. Hey, we'll take what good news we can find here in Arizona.

Did you see what this guy is requesting?!

Congressman Poe's bill will authorize the Secretary of Defense to make 10,000 National Guard troops available upon request from a U.S. Governor. In addition, these troops will be paid for by the federal government and serve under the command of the requesting governor.

All these borrow and spend conservatives really need to be put on the bench for once and for all.

Yeah... real terrible when we have to borrow and spend for police. Murder doesn't count when it happens to people on border states.

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Speaking of people who would prefer the government not to spend money on illegal immigration enforcement....

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/crime-scene/gangs/teen-killed-in-manassas.html

Its gone somewhat further than that by now with by and large fears at the school in regards to retaliatory violence... funny thing is though... if we had a sound border and immigration policy MS-13 wouldn't be a problem because most of them would be back in El Salvador and the other parts of Latin America.

But, I'm sure MS-13 is part of that happy mosaic of multiculturalism. Its in their culture to murder... terrorism is their right.

People get murdered in US cities also. But I'm not advocating 50 states each being able to call 10,000 troops under their own control indefinitely to be paid for by US taxpayers.

Sorry...you guys are begging to keep hundreds of thousands of troops stationed all around the world. If you want bodies start with those and quit trying to pile on even more debt.

Yah, it's ok to do a surge in Iraq or Afghanistan and to spend more as needed. If only our President had the same staying power on the U.S. border that he does for Iraq and Afghanistan.

I'll give you credit. You're good at evasion.

I would be VERY happy if every US soldier deployed on foreign soil was patrolling the Mexican border tomorrow.

There is an article in the current issue (January/February 2011) of Archaeology that might interest you. I can't find a link online yet, but the article is titled, "The Artifacts of Illegal Immigration" and is about the archaeological study some are performing right now on the rural immigration routes in Arizona between the New Mexico border and Yuma county line. By studying the various "garbage dumps", prayer shrines, etc..., that can be found, archaeologists are learning more about the patterns of illegal immigration, and how it's changing.

I've read about people studying this stuff. I'm sure it's educational in many ways, and there are useful things to discover. But, I guess when I go hiking in the Arizona desert and see trash, and see pictures of the enormous amounts of trash in Arizona wilderness areas, I can't help but find it a bit odd that people would find this worth much study. If I and a bunch of other Americans went out and dumped trash throughout the Arizona wilderness areas and degraded them, we'd be pilloried and if caught arrested, and rightly so.

I took another look at the article over the noon hour. The actual title of the article is "The Journey to El Norte."

I don't disagree with you. In fact, the article points out that very notion.

But they also point out that much of what we dig up, archaeologically, from people long ago is essentially that, trash they've discarded during their journey from one location to another, or during their daily lives.

Thus the old saying, "one man's trash is another man's treasure."

"Look at this (watch). It's worthless. Ten dollars from a vendor in the street. But I take it, I bury it in the sand for a thousand years, it becomes priceless!"

you'd have to be pretty good to think MS-13 should be part of our American cultural mosaic.

Just read that a Border Patrol Agent was killed in southern Arizona last night. **** Afghanistan, send the troops to the border and kick some Mexican ***.

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Yah, just saw that in the news myself. The reports I've read say the agent was ten miles north of the border near Rio Rico, Arizona when he was killed. They have four suspects apprehended, with a manhunt underway for the fifth suspect. Hits close to home, as I have a friend who works for the border patrol in that area. :(

"Who knows? Maybe someday even you may be worth something."

One of the great scenes in that movie.

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Interesting that the border patrol agent is reported to have been killed along I-19, which is a major highway south from Tucson, through Nogales, and into Mexico. So it doesn't sound like some remote ambush like the killing of rancher Robert Krentz last year. Makes you wonder if it was a traffic stop of smugglers.
