I don't think there's a news editor in the country who could turn down that ribeye steak, though. Everybody will get to froth at the mouth a bit, there will be a tiny ratings spike, and in a week it will have as much currency in the news cycle as the Assyrian Empire.

Seriously, what's the point of hanging American flags with petitions on them supposed to do? Dissuade Mexicans from coming across, like they didn't know that's where the border was? Or maybe it's to keep the actual grunts of the Border Patrol busy cleaning up their litter rather than actually patroling the border? Are they putting them there on the off chance a congressman or senator walks by and sees those petitions?

And here's where the idiocy from both sides merges - this has been going on for 3 years? Seriously? So some guy has nothing better to do with his life than hang mini American flags for 3 freaking years? He didn't get the hint that they had no effect? Didn't want to change tactics, maybe try something with a little more pizazz? And the Border Patrol put up with this for 3 years and just now decided to make him stop? Why the hell didn't they tell him to stop oh, 2 years and 11 months ago? I have a feeling if I started planting miniture American flags around the local Federal courthouse, I'd be detained within a week and told to stop littering/trespassing/etc.

Public protest and expression isn't idiocy in my book. There's a whole lot more stupid stuff going on that people don't complain about that folks hanging flags and petitions at the border. It's probably not something I'd choose to do, but I can understand that folks who live near the border might see this as one way of expressing themselves to the national government that shuns them.

Yeah, but I was assuming "raising awareness" wasn't in play here, since that's only used by liberals and their communist causes. (and breast cancer, of which more awareness has been raised than every other single cause out there. If only 99% of the money spent raising awareness went to research instead).

This is off topic, but I agree. Who the hell isn't aware of breast cancer? Seriously, do we need more awareness of it? Put the money into research. :rolleyes:

I think much of the awareness campaign is targeted towards early detection and women doing self-checks -- very effective measures. It also hardly needs to be zero sum -- there are large NIH grant vehicles for research.

Super stupid. I understand how some support the bill in southern border states. In WI, any problems are far smaller and far less likely to net any benefits. This should be addressed by pursuing the only way illegals can survive...by employment.

In states like Wisconsin, such a bill just loads government with huge costs. True WI fiscal conservatives should be outraged...social conservatives will love the bill.

We Arizonans are glad that others around the country are recognizing the wisdom of our governor and state legislature and are emulating our efforts to ensure the rule of law is enforced. Every so often a bit of good news comes along that makes you smile. Now if only the administration in D.C. was clued in.

Yeah, it's wonderful when state governments enact laws that are sure to be struck down as unconstitutional. I'm sure that's the best way to use the time and money spent fighting it in the courts.

By the way, I saw Arizona legalized medicinal marijuana after all. Now that is actually good news since the people have spoken and their voices have been heard. Right?
