IIHF U-18 Women's World Championships January 7-14 in Zlin, Czech Republic

oops. I meant first canadian goal. I did indeed watch it. The refs are so bad in the women's game.

There's plenty of sucky men's refs in women's US college hockey, it's just not the women who suck.

do no men want to referee women's games? is it politically incorrect?

it is time to give other more qualified people a chance, men or women. the refs in women's games have been bad thus far.

Thats just the way society has been trending over the last 20 years, political correctness. Best dont necessarily get the job, perception is what matters. In Womens hockey they are moving towards all female referee's and even moving towards all female coaching. Its not due to quality but perception. Call me a female chauvinist but I believe womens teams are better coached by men with women as assistants. Men tend to forgive and forget a lot faster than women. 2 men fight, they are friends the next day. 2 women fight, they hate each other for 6 months and sometimes never get over it. Coaches need to move on quickly and make rational decisions when heat of the moment arguments occur. Top NCAA programs, like Wisconsin, have a male coach with female assistants which reduces the team drama substantially. Not saying this is 100% true in all cases, but more often than not.

As well, the best players do not necessarily make the best coaches. Call it the Gretzky factor. Top notch players often struggle with the simple parts of games as the game came too easily for them. Best coaches tend to be the grinders. Again, not always, but most of the time.

The USA has passed Canada by in terms of development. Look at this result and the Mens World Juniors. As these players age and become National team members the USA has a bright future.

Whereas the mens refs are prefect . . .
Part of the issue is that the womens game is different and I assume they are looking for refs who have internalized those differences so as to not ignore them.
