If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

I will say, I can see how it would be easy for fans of programs with little history or tradition to have trouble not understanding why it is so important.

So they should understand why it is important.

if it weren't for him having already gone to Purdue, I could've sworn that JDUBBS was what, 13 or 14? I could see someone immature posting this crap over and over again. Because he isn't, reading his posts is just plain scary.

History and tradition are a source of pride, not ridicule. Though I do understand that following a program short on tradition probably has devalued its meaning to you. Which is ok, but don't expect anyone to "envy" a program devoid of tradition.

Don't wanna speak for REDMEN, but I agree with you. I don't think anyone should envy programs like AIC.

Exactly. How can one of the four teams that plays for the Beanpot every year have any tradition associated with it?

Re: If your best players hadn't gone pro, would your team beat BC?

They certainly have more tradition than schools like Wisconsin or North Dakota, but that really isn't saying much. Certainly nothing to envy.

See now this just a poor attempt at trolling. No one has more tradition than North Dakota. It's silly to even say or think otherwise.

They have tradition alright, but none of it is their own. Logo, nickname, everything is ripped off from other institutions. Very little local talent. Even the goal song was ripped off. Sorry, but I think UND has very little tradition of its own.

What institution did UND steal the Fighting Sioux nickname from?

Stop being silly.

It's a rip off of Notre Dame Fighting Irish. They even use the same interlocking ND. They ripped off the indian head from the Blackhawks. Same with their goal song. BTW - What college program has a goal horn and goal song?? This isn't the NHL. Let your band play. Just my opinion, but UND has little tradition of its own.

You're right. A tradition of losing on the big stage. But now that was broken this year by not even making it.

Let's see if I can derail this conversation in a new direction with my own shot. Probably not but why not give it a go? :D

EDIT: Tweeking the NCAA is quickly becoming a NoDak tradition too.

Stop being silly! But to respond to your silliness.
1. No, it isn't. Notre Dame adopted Fighting Irish in 1927. North Dakota adopted Sioux in 1930. They added Fighting to it in the mid-1960's.
2. No, they don't. They used the interlocking ND before Notre Dame. They also no longer use the same interlocking ND as Notre Dame.
3. No, they don't. The Indian head is quite different from the one the Blackhawks use.
4. Yes, you got one right.
5. North Dakota obviously.
6. Correct, it isn't.
7. More than any other school.

Minnesota wouldn't have beat BC even if their top players hadn't gone pro. Jerry York has more wins than the last 4 Gopher coaches combined.
