Re: I Think I'll Go For A Walk - Death Pool Thread

Crusader Rabbit!! What about Tom Terrific (and the Mighty Manfred) and Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse?
THOSE were cartoons!

And saturday morning cartoons were my baby sitter. i could live on Bugs, Daffy, Elmer, Porky, Teety, Sylvester, and going way back, even Koko the Clown. Now, what passes for cartoons have been so watered down and scrutinized that they do not hold a candle to the entertainment of the oldies.

Heckyl and Jekyll, Mighty Mouse, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Roadrunner....the list is endless.

Rocky and Bullwinkle are on Netflix and my 8 year old loves the show. So glad I can show her quality stuff from back in the day. I wouldn't do anything on Saturday until I watched Moose and Squirrel.

Sure was-and now everything is just the same drivel. I hate getting older-but I am sure glad I was a kid back then and not now.

Steve-WonderBread i can live without-but Twinkies? Life is just a little bit less worth living without those little treats.

Best. Hostess. Treat. Ever. (and hard to find):

Amen. Some putz foodie at the NYT (concerned that not enough Americans act the way he wants them to) is happy Hostess appears to be on the way out. Can't have free people in a free society making decisions on what to eat of which their "betters" disapprove.

OP-I wonder how many employees will be laid off?

Man, you've got to feel some empathy for those folks who have lost their jobs. Very tough economy. Holidays approaching. Where do people who have worked for years in big, industrial baking plants go to find work? With anything like the benefits (even though reduced) they had at Hostess?

I suppose the changing tastes of the public and inability or unwillingness to modernize their product line is what ultimately caused Hostess to collapse. Union intransigence apparantly didn't help, either. Still, tough on the little guys. Like it always is.

I would think it is not so much changing tastes for the public-but more likely the constant bombardment from the media telling them how unhealthy this stuff was and how they had to avoid this to live to be 100. As for myself-i would rather only last to 95 but have my fill of twinkies, cupcakes, etc.
