Hockey East Semi's and Finals

Re: Hockey East Semi's and Finals

Congrats to PC, they are so tough defensively. Frustrating couple of bounces on the tying and GW goal but PC had NU on their heels after the Goldstein goal in the 3rd and probably deserved some good fortune. A seven game series between these two teams would be nuts. Maybe we'll see PC again in a few weeks.

They play their system and don't deviate. Very disciplined .

Re: Hockey East Semi's and Finals

I know. Not sure why I keep lamenting over it. Just wish it was like the old days, I guess

Since I usually start my complaining with the issue of cost, I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised yesterday. Knowing I'd be able to sit pretty much wherever, I asked for the cheapest ticket available: $21.50, including fees (if any).

Looks like the same deal tonight and I am taking both my boys. If they were $35 each, I would not be going. So instead of getting $0 from me, they will get $64.50. See how that works, Agganis Arena?

Of course, I'll still complain about the cost of the concessions...

Re: Hockey East Semi's and Finals

Want to wish both PC and BU fans good luck tonight! All 4 teams played out of their minds hockey last night it was a pleasure to watch. Tonight should be no different! ('cept that it won't be $11.00 beer night at my house ;) )

Nor in mine! BTW (meant to tell you last night), the Crosby, Stills & Nash (Sorry, no Young) :) reference that I recently posted on your thread was for your benefit... :)

Re: Hockey East Semi's and Finals

Can't be 10,000 there tonight

Tough to tell with those end shots, but it looks like not too many Northeastern fans were able to sell their tickets because tons of empty seats in the NU sections (especially the balcony). On the other hand, a little bit more "crowded" in the lower bowl. I'm guessing only a few hundred difference.

Re: Hockey East Semi's and Finals

The crowd will be smaller there. People are going to have to get used to the fact that the "old days" are gone and these buildings are not going to be packed anymore.

Wonder why the old days have gone away...wonder if it due to the fact there is less regional players at the local schools.

Cost of attendance has a lot to do with it. Not just ticket prices, but the cost of parking, the cost of concessions, the fact that arenas don't have water fountains - it's a crappy fan experience and an expensive one. The cost of a hot dog and soda is basically the same as the cost of your ticket. Not to mention if you'd like to hydrate yourself at any point during the two 3-hour games you're watching in the semifinals, it's $4.50 for a bottle of water, $5.50 for a tiny drink. Beer is $11.25 at the minimum, a burger is $15. You can offer cheap $20 tickets all you want but when everything else costs insane amounts of money, people are going to stay home.

To max out the profits, you cannot bring in any foods. The Jacobs milked this baby to the hilt. Fees on top of fees when you buy tickets online or in person.
