Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

Yea when I saw the news Voss was moved to the NHL I cheered. He had very little feel for a game during his career in Hockey East. I always feel Jack Millea calls the best game with keeping under control and being even handed.

You weren't the only one who cheered. More than anything else, coaches and players want consistency in referees. They didn't always get that with Voss, who was actually quite competent but had an annoying habit of making "chippy" calls at the most inopportune times.

Agree with your assessment of Millea. Also impressed with some of the new blood that has been brought in i.e., Koharski the Younger, Miller, Murphy.

He called Pens/Hawks last night, thought he saw Matt Benning and called a phantom hook on Tyler Motte instead.

Did Tyler Motte also get beat to his own net by two forwards 8 seconds into sudden death OT?

To put it plain and simply - and if you actually played or analyzed hockey you'd know this - NU had one legit D1 goaltender last season. That goaltender finished the season for them.

I think you give Ruck too much credit. He finished 9th in sv% in the league playing the cupcake portion of the schedule.

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

Yeah, well I guess almost beating BC in the first round of the playoffs must count for something.

You seem to be confused. UVM wasn't a good team and no one is pretending they were. On the other hand, you and your fellow fanboys seem to think that last year is going to be the status quo from here on out. We can talk again the end of Nov. when NU is sitting at 4-11-0 and Ruck is riding the pine. That is as long as you don't get beat by Bentley.

Maybe Gr8Sk8M8 is, the rest of us realize that may have been the best it gets for another 28 years and are cautiously optimistic since NU can't have nice things. We're just perplexed by a UVM fan who thinks there's any reason to believe they'll finish above NU this year with a less talented team that didn't do anything last year either. That's all.

Could it happen, sure, hell BU could collapse and finish 7th, anything is possible, but if I boldly proclaimed NU will pass BU this year, that'd sound out of place too.

Only one game obviously but this game was easily the worst officiated game I saw all year:

Maybe Baker was the main stooge in that one, however. Can't recall.

Re: Hockey East Preseason Thread. Predict and Win Eternal Glory

Every year I pray I won't see Gravalese and Benedetto.

When NU played UNH in the 2014 playoffs, Benedetto was given a chance to reverse a bad call that he had made disallowing the go ahead goal for NU. He had ruled it was batted in with a high stick. The idiot, on replay, couldn't see what everyone else was able to see and that was the fact that Ryan Belonger's stick was tied up and on the ice and that the only stick that was raised was Justin Agosta's.

There's a rumor out there that he actually apologized to Madigan admitting that he blew it twice. What's worse is that, again allegedly, his partner for the game, Dave Hanson, told him that it was a UNH player who had tipped it in.

The "cupcake" portion of the schedule being, tying BC and ND and losing by one goal to them and then tying Qpac and then not losing one game during the entire run of the playoffs?

That cupcake part?

IIRC, part of the problem involved UNH not having replay equipment or what they had was of very poor quality. Making things even more frustrating for those of us who watched replays on TV, the UNH announcers also suggested that the goal should be allowed. Wasn't that the incident that got Madigan's protestations earned him his suspension for the first game of the '15-'16 season?

'Twas indeed...

Haha

oh man, how will NU fans put up with you

Putting aside the fact that JStevens was knocked out of the game with no call, go back and read what York said about the undisciplined play of his team that night.

Then again, what does he know?

That's why you went to NU. I think most posters from the other teams realized that things were way too cordial on this thread and I was doing a little fishing... Zing.... fish on.
