Guys, the problem with ND is that it should be Penn St. For regional logic but obviously $$$ talks. If the ACC had hockey we know BC would leave HE! If HE does t catch up to the revenues that the new CCHA and WCHA leagues offer their teams then we're gonna be disgruntled for the long term...btw, great point gscott about the time lag between playoff games....it's too long now till the FF.

Uhm... Those leagues aren't going to match unless hockey east does something completely dreadful

As long as they don't require the purchase of the first round game as part of the season ticket packages I'm OK with it... gives me an extra open ski weekend. And from a viewing perspective, would your really want another best of 3 series added to the schedule? I mean, attendance and atmosphere at the hockey east quarters is terrible... imagine a best of 3 series between the 6 and 11 seeds?

One of the best things that has happened at BU in the last few years was when they went back to making the Hockey East Quarters an optional part of your season ticket package.

Whats all the crying about?

The last few years all I have been hearing is how deep HE is and how anyone can beat anyone.

Also the last few years the standings have been clogged right up to the end of the reg season...so really how much
better is the 5&6 seeds over the 11&12? And if they are better how hard is it to win one game at home.

Simply put if you dont earn home ice you dont have any reason to complain. Makes the reg reason games mean even more.

It not like the teams in this league sell out playoff games anyway, hell many of the top teams fans could care less until
the final 4.

What is really comes down to is the coaches(who voted on this right?) dont like playing 3 games in one week then 2 the next
week that have so much importance. They dont like to have thier teams burned out and hurt going into the NCAA's....thats my quess.

No, what makes the regular season mean more is having the regular season eliminate some teams from the playoffs. Not this nancy-boy everybody-gets-a-trophy mentality.

And please note that the school in which I have a rooting interest has been left out of the party more times than I want to remember.

Agreed.

100% a money grab for Hockey East having another weekend of conference tourney games. My guess is that the actual return is going to be less than they think. Attendance is going to suffer even more than it currently does. Unless you are very wealthy, you are not going to be going to 2x weekends of opening HEA, Semis & Finals at the Garden, NCAA regionals, and Frozen Four. It gets to be too much at some point. The playoff format was working well the way it was.

It would be nice that after 2 upcoming Playoffs,1st with 11 teams(add ND)and then the 2nd(add UConn)...that they re-think this Playoff picture and come away and go back to 8 Teams make it in and 4 watch it on TV...but that will NEVER happen now that they open the door to all...which is too bad. Funny how a good thing is always NOT the good thing. Shake your head and laugh it off I guess.

I agree... the regionals plus F4 cost me a bit of money

First HE wanted to be different than EZAC; now HE apparently wants to be the same as EZAC.

What is the reasoning behind this decision? Usually these things are based on what can make the most money but I don't see how that can be the case here.

Because maybe now HE feels it's lacking, I mean, the defending national champion getting dismantled by Union in almost BC's backyard would have been unheard of a few years ago. :D

Maybe the kind folks at TD Garden would care. It'd be silly to have a Hockey East banner without the league champion's name on it.

Aside from the fact that the Board of Trustees attempt to eliminate Lowell was a witch hunt perpetrated by Amherst fanboys on said Board, is there any doubt in anyone's mind that they were trying to eliminate the wrong program? Lowell has been better than Amherst for about 90% of the time they've been together in Hockey East. It isn't even close.

not going out on a limb here, but if the chiefs were folded someone else would have their names on said banner :D

Pointless addition? Really?!?!? Have to respectfully disagree with that. Before even entering the league, the thinking on this board was that we'd consistently be a bottom of the pack team, which wasn't the case at all. We were competitive from the get go and were often in the hunt for home ice. In less than 10 years in the league, we've played in two HE championship games, we've gone to the NCAA tourney twice, and made it to the Frozen Four once. That's not too shabby by any standard. We also consistently send some pretty decent players to the NHL. We're definitely floundering right now, I can't dispute that, but we'll be back.

Well said UVMcat! Not to mention many of us old alumni players thoroughly enjoying our yearly visit to Burlington, which had nothing to do with hockey! Gutterson is a great home arena to experience...guys like Tom McNamara, Tom Colby, John Glynn et al were all gentlemen and good friends! Always enjoyed UVM more than Maine, but that's me. :)

point being, talking about the league being better off if Lowell was contracted seems ridiculous given their success.
