Re: Hockey East Coach Power Rankings
I'll explain it...real...slow...so you can understand it. My system is an attempt to reward coaches who accomplish the most (measured by place in standings) with the least talent (measured by lowest # of NHL draft picks). The HEA Coach of the year is often from a team that doesn't win a regular season or tournament championship but was recognized for getting the most out of what he had to work with. Recent examples are Bazin 2012 (finished 2cnd), Dennehy 2010 (finished 6th), Cronin 2009 (finished 2cnd) and Sneddon (finished 3rd) in 2008.
To those that say that the number of NHL draft picks on a roster is not a relevant measure of how much talent a team has I ask you when was the last time a HEA Player of the Year or Rookie of the Year was an undrafted player?
Let me get this straight: getting draft picks is good. Being high in the standings is good. Parker has more draft picks than TIMMAY so he is better in that category. And Parker's team is higher in the standings so he is better in that category. But they're tied in the aggregate???? Dennehy, Umile, and Micheleto all have fewer picks than Jewwy and are lower in the standings, but beat him in the aggregate??? Do you realize that you are a complete, blithering idiot??
