I'll agree that there are a number of ongoing experiments, pilot projects, etc., but to state that, "Most of the other industrialized democracies are doing it to a certain degree" is quite a reach. And I don't consider China and Iran to be "industrialized democracies." (China has the "industrialized" part down but fails miserably at democracy.)

Mark Cuban is a man I admire and respect but not all of his opinions and positions align with mine. That doesn't affect my opinion of him or mean I'm going to stick pins in his likenesses. It used to be that people could agree to disagree, move on, and still be friends.

Numbnuts, i believe in science. I believe brassbonanza alluded to this in response to the person who has written numerous letters to get everything shutdown but again we are talking about college hockey here where players are being regularly tested.

We're not talking about little Johnny at the local rink where nobody is being tested in order to play etc. Not that I support shutting down youth hockey either but there is a clear difference between than and trying to proceed with college hockey. But I get it, you and zlax don't want anything involving unnecessary and preventable human infection to take place right now.

J.D....I fixed that for to reflect how folks like myself and Zaks view it. Again, I actually make my living from games being actually played so, not playing is far from ideal for me. But, I just happen to believe that greater good of society outweighs my temporary hardship.

You've accused specific schools of being "afraid" to play. They're not "afraid", they simply prioritize athlete and greater community safety more than you apparently do. Remember, a decent percentage of these athletes (currently as high as 20%) who contract Covid, even if mildly or asymptomatic, will develop some form of myocarditis and lung scarring or other long-term health issues. Which, will all meet the definition of "pre-existing conditions" from a health insurance standpoint. And, without the current guarantee from Obamacare in place if that law gets overturned, there will be literally thousands of high school, college, and pro athletes that will somehow have to pay for the associated medical care on their own.

For college players to be regularly tested and then once cleared to play you make em wear a mask while skating up and down the ice? Yes I think that is stupid. If you wanna make youth players do that just so they can play, so be it i guess.

J.D., first, I actually agree that it's very difficult to do any type of cardio activity wearing a mask as I have tried numerous times the last few months. However, you do realize the testing only tells you if you were positive at the moment you have the test done? That means that just because the 40 athletes and say 20 total coaches and auxiliary staff were negative on Thursday, doesn't mean a number of them may not be infected on Friday. Or...maybe that they were infected but, hadn't developed enough active virus at the time of the test and thus didn't elicit a positive result. And, are now highly contagious on Friday or Saturday. You wear the mask to both protect yourself and others in case someone is infected but the infection is unknown to both you and them. That's the big challenge when 40% are asymptomatic.

UMass, BC and UConn are playing and have so far played at least two games each.

UVM, NU, UML, and Maine are not playing right now but hope to later. They have made announcements postponing various amounts of time.

BU, UNH, PC and Merrimack are maybe playing but haven’t played anyone yet and also have not announced formally they aren’t playing.

Do I have all that right?

A lot happened here in one day. You miss too much when working. This country is in more trouble than ever with 47% morons and another 47% looking for handouts. We have an outgoing philanderer President that is without character being replaced by another philanderer without character.

To respond to some earlier statements: I have never been a Republican, used to be a Democrat but since they don't believe in the proven science of human life and castigate anyone who does they have lost me. So much for all their phony science talk. I am pro-life 100% which means opposing the death penalty, supporting the poor, against embryonic stem cell research, favor immigration amnesty for those who come to our borders oppressed but not open borders insanity, promote life through it's only natural way marriage between a man and a woman as well as opposed to abortion in any sense. I have always and still do find pro-choice Republicans worse than pro-choice(perhaps now all) Democrats. Liberals(those expressing pro-choice demands especially) have used very hateful rhetoric towards us and many choose to just stay quiet about it because who wants to be called names. There are many who feel this way and don't respond to polls because of it. It is hard to argue with someone who is 'always right' too. Their facts are just that, their facts and are not always correct but they never allow for other facts to be heard. They always suppress them.A

As for masks, the only effective mask with an active Covid person in the area is a properly fitted N95. You are fooling yourself otherwise. Getting fitted for one takes perhaps a half hour or so. That's how long my wife had to be properly fitted with one. There are those who think asymptomatic people are high risk and those who think they are low risk for passing it on. I tend to believe they are low risk and are not responsible for the outbreaks whereas actively sick people are the real dangers. I have seen this from about a year of experience not from some so called experts that may or may not have an agenda.

I will not feel the need to respond on this topic anymore. You have your opinions and I have mine.

UVM has another outbreak. As I said yesterday I desperately want the season to happen but as far as I can tell the unbelievable level of incompetence is going to hold that back. If BC football can go all this time with no positives zero excuses for all the teams in Hockey East.
