Hockey East 2010-2011: The Quickening

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011: The Quickening

You can't tell Hokydad anything...he knows everything

I know the difference between a recruited walk on and a scholarship athlete.

Patch Alber is and was a recruited walk on
Ben Smith was a recruited scholarship athlete and was not a recruited walk on

In your world, 95% of all Hockey East players are recruited walk ons.

Ben Smith was offered a scholarship at BC by Jerry York and he accepted it. Period. Whether it was 100%, 75% or 50% is not the point. He was offered one, accepted it and played at BC as a recruited scholarship athlete. The vast majority of players are not 4/4, very few are.

So did Cody Ferriero just walk on at Northeastern? He did not get a 4/4. Better call Croni and tell him he lied in his press release. Tell him that Slasher and JD said he was wrong and to retract his press release immediatly

"Fools are us" starring JD and Slasher

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011: The Quickening

"Ferriero committed to Boston College nearly two years ago (Sept. 2008), prior to his junior season at Governor's Academy. The scholarship offer Ferreiro accepted at the time was reported to be a 2-for-4. That's not uncommon for even very good players at BC -- e.g., Chris Kreider didn't come in on a full -- and other high-profile schools, too. It's the byproduct of success. Scholarship offers can be upgraded at the school's discretion, though that doesn't normally happen until the player has played a season or more"

I would like to also take this opportunity to send out a big high five to the BC coaching staff. We are so proud that they were able to land Chris Kreider as a recruited walk on. The great tradition of walk on hockey players continues and it is amazing how they pull this off over and over again. Thousands of elite NHL draft picks lining up to walk on at BC and take a shot at wearing the jersey.

Congrats Chris, another feel good/Rudy type story!!!!!

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011: The Quickening

So he came to BC as a walk-on at BC with no scholarship his freshman and sophomore season and then got a scholarship later on. Are these the "facts" and does everyone agree that these are factually correct?

this would make almost half the team 'walk ons', so i do not agree.

Hokydad is an embarrassment and he will never admit he was wrong. His laughable Providence > BC academically rant and his failure to read the USN&WR and the hilarity that ensued was epic. Also, his nebulous "BC has a player with academic issues stay tuned" B.S. was great, too.

I know a lot of guys like him from Youth/Select hockey. He is a wannabe loser who wants to be with the "in crowd" of hockey and tries to befriend coaches/parents, etc in hopes of being accepted as an 'insider'. There are a ton of these frauds at rinks all across America.

The bottom line is you hear 'whispers' at most rinks if you choose to listen. 99.9% of them are crap. Unless you are a dolt like Hokydad, you tend to blow them off. This clown feels the need to be "the man" and post his crap on an internet site. In the end, ignore him, he's a fool.

Must suck being on the outside and not even being able to peak in....

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011: The Quickening

I know the difference between a recruited walk on and a scholarship athlete.

So does any average retard.

Patch Alber is and was a recruited walk on
Ben Smith was a recruited scholarship athlete and was not a recruited walk on

In your world, 95% of all Hockey East players are recruited walk ons.

Again, why are we comparing Patch Alber to Ben Smith? You have a hard time sticking to the facts surrounding the player in question...Ben Smith.

Your? I'm pretty sure I haven't commented one way or the other on this topic. I simply don't like you.

Again, I haven't commented either way on this topic, so leave me out of it as hard as that might be for you.

I would like to also take this opportunity to send out a big high five to the BC coaching staff. We are so proud that they were able to land Chris Kreider as a recruited walk on. Another colossal failure of a joke.

Also, his nebulous "BC has a player with academic issues stay tuned" B.S. was great, too.

LOL I must have missed this one. No surprise if he was wrong again...

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011: The Quickening

Hokydad, I have no problem with being on the outside--and neither should you.

I come here to offer my opinions and comment on legitimate news sources. I don't come here to provide unsubstantiated "news" as gospel.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011: The Quickening

My goodness. This two-day rampage of hokydad without his meds is something to behold. After spilling his pills and a box of Mike and Ike's on the floor of the candyvan, I think he put them back in the wrong containers and ate the candy instead and gave some 15-year old boy his real pills. I hope the kid is ok.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011: The Quickening

Seems to me that almost everyone agrees the "Big Four" will be the big four this year, followed by a cluster of NU, UVM and MC, followed by a cluster of PC, UMA, and UML.

That sounds terribly uninteresting.
