Hobey Hat Trick

Re: Hobey Hat Trick

Wow, definitely glad they closed up the comments on the Hat Trick story. Some idiot was saying something about Matt Frattin stabbing a baby with a fork.

You ain't kidding. That's just false information. It was a spork.

Re: Hobey Hat Trick

Miele should win this--no contest. Unfortunately if that happens, the whining from Sioux fans would be unbearable.

Not me. Miele would be a deserving winner.

It appears that you're getting good practice on your whining though... :p

Re: Hobey Hat Trick

No offense but even though every school in the WCHA is quality, they are hardly ivy league. Michigan Tech is very good, but come on.

The CCHA isn't ivy either but off the top of my head there are at leasts three schools that can crush anything in the WCHA (in no particular order- Michigan, Notre Dame, Miami).

Hockey East certainly dwarfs anything the WCHA has done in academics.
You must be proud of your racist BB players being total dolts on the ESPN special. How good of a education did they get?

Re: Hobey Hat Trick

everyone knows you eat cupcakes with your fingers.

UAA ate you with a spork.

Oh, come now, this isn't the NBA or the NFL, only 2 arrests by an UND player is almost a miracle. All UND players get multiple DUI's, except that idiot Kristo, who would rather freeze his toes off than get in a car with Frattin.

Why are you still posting Happy? Did you have to take a break from pulling your third leg because your mom is downstairs washing clothes?

IMHO, the comments in that story, in this thread, and to just about every Hobey story or blog out there have gone way overboard regarding Matt Frattin, both for and against.

I'll be the first to say too many of my fellow UND fans are overreacting to comments or criticisms of Matt's past mistakes. But it hasn't been a one way street either.

If any of the 3 finalists win, I'll be fine with that. They are all clearly deserving, as were the other seven who weren't named to the Hat Trick. Pretty hard to argue that Atkinson, Miele or Frattin aren't among the best in all of college hockey this year.

I suspect if Matt Frattin doesn't win, and if you even told him it was because of his off-ice events of 2 years ago and the follow up suspension, the Matt Frattin who returned, and who we've had the pleasure of watching for the last 1 1/2 seasons would be ok with that. I bet he'd be the first to tell you that he made some mistakes, and he has to learn (and has learned) to live with the consequences of those mistakes.

If that's the case, and everything I've seen and heard this year causes me to believe it so, then that change in his character and maturity is going to serve him far better during the remainder of his life than some award and trophy.

Just my two cents.

Very well said.

Re: Hobey Hat Trick

you may want facts prior to talking about Dany Heatley. In the accident w/Snyder his rookie year his blood alcohol was something like a .03 or less. it was lthe equivalent to less than one drink IIRC.

My bad - got my drunken poor decision makers in the NHL confused - I should have went with Ken Daneyko

However one really has to question how you lose contol of a !@#$%^& Ferarri unless you are in fact drunk :p

There is always the "stupid" option if drunk does not apply.

Re: Hobey Hat Trick

Silly Happy. You can't stab a baby with a cupcake.

Hey, I am just trying to save the baby's life, besides, no one would be stupid enough to leave Frattin with a baby, it would be like leaving a puppy with Michael Vick.

Re: Hobey Hat Trick

Hopefully, that and getting arrested a bunch of times cost frattin the Hobey.

So in your mind Miele is the only viable Hobey candidate?

Greenwich Post said:
The following are Aug. 25’s released arrests:

ASSAULT
Thomas Atkinson, 50, and his two sons Cam Atkinson, 19, and Tommy Atkinson, 20, were arrested Aug. 19 and charged with breach of peace. According to police, the senior Atkinson was driving and attempting to make a left-hand turn from Sheephill Road onto East Putnam Avenue when he was cut off by three teens on bicycles. Atkinson reportedly began exchanging profanities with one of the teens as they all rode onto East Putnam Avenue. When they all reached the McDonald’s parking lot in Riverside, Atkinson reportedly contacted his sons, Cam and Tommy, and they responded to the scene to confront the teens. The two younger Atkinsons allegedly began kicking and punching the boy who had gotten into the argument with their father, injuring the boy’s forehead. Cam and Tommy Atkinson were also charged with third degree assault. The men were released on promises to appear and are due in court Aug. 27.

Three grown men vs. three teens on bicycles= 1 Hobey Baker Candidate

Sure looks like it to me. I know a guy on the committee, I'll have to e-mail him and see what the hell they were thinking with Frattin and Atkinson in the Hat Trick. Sure looks like they blew that criteria.
