Hobart Statesmen Hockey 2024-2025 Reigning D3 Back to Back Champions

Well, playing at the Nexus certainly rekindled the discussion. The best prospect is partnering with Geneva to revitalize The Cooler. Unfortunately, I don't think Ontario County will float a massive bond the way Oneida County did to get the Nexus Center built, but maybe there are some pockets of funding NYS could unleash for Geneva, similar to the Downtown visitors Center $$. I have my own thoughts on how to expand the Cooler, which is never going to look like the Nexus, but it could at least compare to the Endicott ice with some nicer seating(say 1200 total ) . HWS is finishing a $400 million Capital Campaign and unfortunately a new rink is not part of it, but like Statesmen Hockey, we never give up. As much abuse as The Cooler gets on these USCHO Fan threads, recruits are pretty impressed when they see all the Championship Banners hanging from the rafters(Conference and NCAA). One more to raise to start the 2025-2026 season.

The first step is to win our new conference. As far as the Lax comparison, the Hockey team needs another 10 Championships or so to meet that challenge, but now that's ancient history. I'm sure Pierre McGuire is happy somewhere.

well it gonna take a heck of a run to compare with the old day Lax teams but ya never know....stayed with Pierre on a recruiting trip back in the day, his brother was our goalie at The Hill School,needless to say we had a great time at Bart, also played with Coach Taylor in my 1 year at Hellmira......
 
We were fortunate to have tickets for all three games this weekend. This was my eighth frozen four and by many standards the best one I have seen. If you told me that Boston College was playing University of Minnesota Sunday night I would have said absolutely. Ok before I get blowback on that let me say it was a fantastic College Hockey game. So many on your end of the seat moments. We were very fortunate to have this bear our home

Having a lot of banners hanging from the ceiling is always a nice flex with recruits. Part of what makes Kreitzberg so cool.

Don't think this is over analyzing, but, of more immediate concern. Supposedly there is going to be a rematch of the National Championship game at the Cooler just months from now. Just how in the hell is a tiny arena going to handle people from a huge fan base that will travel in numbers no more than a 100 miles plus the locals who PAY TAXES TO RUN THE DAMN PLACE??? Answer is they can't unless they turn people from both groups away at the door. Sure sounds like there will be a lot of extremely angry people in Geneva on whatever date that is. Possibly enough to increase the daily workload of the local constables!!!

If this visiting fan base can outdraw on a per game average four of eleven Hockey East teams, all but one ECAC team and all but one Atlantic Hockey team, how are they not going to overrun a youth hockey rink just a hundred miles away??? Among the ECAC teams Utica attendance blows away is RPI (by over 1,100 per game) and Union (by almost 1,500 per game). Would also not care to be a local elected official who will incur the wrath of tax paying town natives who got turned away from their own rink!!!

Shouldn't these people get to work right now on a more suitable alternative site??? Maybe Cornell's rink or some other close one only westerner New Yorkers would be aware of???

From painful experiences, the City of Geneva is one of the most intransigent organizations with whom I have ever had the displeasure of working. Even if Hobart had the money, and the will, getting anything passed through that morass would be a miracle.
