Hobart Statesmen Hockey 2024-2025 Reigning D3 Back to Back Champions

nice ....2 goal was weeeeeeeek
C’mon now, you know know the saying….
“They don’t ask how, they just ask how many”. 😛

I think Iasenza would be the first to admit that if you gave him another 10 tries he wouldn’t thread that needle again.

Harris was awesome for Genny…I had no idea that he was that good. But I’m guessing he’d like that one back….

The 2024-2025 season ends tonight. The Statesmen will either become a three-peat Champion or watch the Utica Pioneers celebrate their first Championship . Go Statesmen, and ride your intense work ethic and the luck of the white jerseys to another Championship.

Damn....what a game. Talk about a heavyweight battle.

Utica gave Hobart all they could handle...and then some. Congrats to UU for an amazing season. Something tells me their time will come soon...just glad it wasn't at our expense tonight.

BTW - What a display of goaltending! Beaver often makes it look easy...but it did not look easy tonight....he had to make some Yoda-like saves to keep Hobart alive. And Piros was an absolute wall....what a find for UU to get that kid mid-season. He was phenomenal all weekend.

Congrats HOBART....3-Peat!!!!

If you liked that, the announcer on the NCAA webcast said the two programs booked a home and home for 2025-2026!!!

Perfect summary llama. Utica was tough all night, but Hobart willed the win in period 3 and in OT. Beaver made some great acrobatic saves even after his hand was slashed. Piros will be a big factor for Utica hockey for the next 3 years, but nobody matches Beaver.Hobart beat a very hungry team in their House and it was an awesome three peat. This years Juniors have set the new goal to end every season at Hobart with a championship......Enjoy this one for now. GO "BART

I felt Utica was getting tired in the overtime. That might have played a role in Fontana out hustling the defender on that last play.

This was such a hard, physical game (my gosh were bodies flying!), that after the first period, I wondered how could they maintain this intensity (they did!). Then when OT seemed inevitable, I wondered did these teams have anything left for another period.

Both teams were exhausted at the end of the OT. Fontana's sliding stretch and scoring poke was inches ahead of the Utica defender and it was the only time all night that Piros couldn't close in time. I just think Hobart's tank had a tad more fuel at the end. A Classic. I was lucky enough to get inside without having to carry your typewriter, and while exiting told every Utica fan what a great team they have and it will be their turn very soon.Total Warrior respect after a game like that..

Hats off to Hobart. That game was worth the price of admission, and Hobart was as good as advertised. They deserved it and overall carried the pace of play after the 1st period. Hope the fans enjoyed their stay in Utica.

Well, Hobart is used to long overtimes. LOL

Glad you got to see it in person!

Great job Bart, rivaling the old teams from the lax era....fell asleep the 1st period then dominated the rest of the way...see ya in the YAC next season....Wonder what Pierre McGuire thinks???

Congrats to Hobart. What a freakin hockey team.
Just an amazing disciplined hockey team! Now I'm wondering are there any plans to furnish this team with an indoor hockey rink that will hold more than 750 fans? They're a first-class team deserving of a better facility.

According to Bartman, there has been talk of raising money for that. The problem is, they don't apparently have room on campus to build a new one (not to mention the expense). And expanding out the Geneva Recreational Center relies on dealing with the City of Geneva, since they own the building (not to mention the limited land space around that building).

Looking forward to the YAC next season. Hobart loses some great Seniors, but Beaver and the Junior class want one more Naty and the underclassmen made some big contributions especially in the playoffs. The first step is to win our new conference. As far as the Lax comparison, the Hockey team needs another 10 Championships or so to meet that challenge, but now that's ancient history. I'm sure Pierre McGuire is happy somewhere.
