Re: HEY HERE IT IS! Its the UNO season thread!
What do you expect Hudson to say?
I saw him in an interview tonight and he said, from his perspective, he did not ever see the puck go across the line. He was pretty measured and not real emotional about this in the interview. Stoic, even.
Let me ask you this. What would he have to benefit from by being dishonest about this? I mean, why would he B.S about this? To what purpose?
I will say this much more about it and then let the sleeping dog lie since the call isn't going to change and it's now a part of Mav and UM lore, and, if they win the title (God forbid), even more so in their case.
If the call had been a goal on the ice and they used the same video to say that it was still a goal, then I would not have had a problem with that. Just as there is no way the video definitively shows that it was a goal, neither did it show that it was not. The call on the ice is the total key here. Odd how the only people that think this is absolutely a goal are Michigan fans.
It's worth noting that:
1. The referee never signaled goal (although he was in a bad spot to see it one way, or, the other).
2. The goal judge never ruled goal and turned on the light.
3. Not one thing about Alex Husdon's reaction on the ice would lead you to believe that he thought anything other than what he said. What he did was clear the puck, which is what you or I would have done as well, standing there in the goal crease. If it would have been in, I don't think he would have done any such thing. Note that he never said it
didn't go in, either, he just said that
he never saw it across the line. I have not heard one UNO player or coach publicly say that is was NOT a goal. I don't think they know, just like anybody else. Hell, Faulkner even said he didn't know!
MAVFANJEFF is partially right. Ambroz bonehead play started the turn of the tide. Stupid, stupid, stupid. What on Earth was he thinking? However, our ineptitude on the power play, and not just in this game but, really, since about the first of the year, is a big part of this as is putting it into cruise control against a good team when you have them down two goals and on their heels. When you have your foot firmly planted on your opponents throat, you don't let up to reset it.
Hopefully, this one burns enough that they don't even allow themselves to get into a situation again where you lose on a fluky play, or get jobbed, or however else you'd like to look at it.
It was a great season, the best in all the years I've been attending UNO hockey games. By far. The future is bright.
